Thread: Thoughts on SOE considering a ingame Music player!

How cool would be if our toons had there own mps player device!
Example: In inventory our charater would have a Music player! Opening the Device would list a playlist of Mp3's that we could activate somehow! The Ingame Music Player "Via Options menu" could be pointed to a directory that contains Music on our own Pc's. How cool would that be? I know I have spent many hours playing this game listening to music... would be kinda cool if we implemented a way so that our charaters could do the same within the game instead!

Having little music notes (smaller than the entertainer ones) around our head, and our toons bobbing their heads while we listened to MP3s would just be far too cool.

don't bet on it.. Sony Music is one of the largest anti-mp3/anti-piracy lobbyist along with RIAA and various otherrecord companies..
Sony Online Entertainment is one of many Sony subsidairies, so I doubt it..
Yes I know EQ1 had an mp3 player in it, but this was long before it got out of control with Napster and all

Sadly , I really think you don't know what you are talking about! The RIAA has basically took the illegal file sharing community by the neck! Downloading Mp3's has become a muti-billion dollar businees! I now use Napster and have purchased many of songs for 99 cents each! Napster has become a very cool way for peeps to get the music they want! Before long , the online sales will blow away the retail sales! Why even walmart "The largest retailer in the world offers online music sales! Educate yourself PLEASE!

what is doesn't eliminate what isn't..
yes RIAA took advantage of mp3s eventually when they saw that no amount of lawsuits is going to stop the endless flow of piracy, so yes they're cashing in on royalties and percentages by now-legit companies such as Napster..
but lets face the facts.. how many of you guys actually USE the paying service to get the songs you want? lets be honest here..
I think far far more people still pirate mp3s(through Kazaa, WinMX and so on) than get them legally through apple.com or Napster's paying services..
my point still stands.. mp3s are still out of control, and as long as they are, Sony will not feed the fire if they can help it.

I've been playing for more than a year now... I decided 9 months ago to disable sounds and music... I don't see the real use of a in-game mp3 player, I play music in my radio anyway while I play.

sigh.. some people would rather look the other way than to see the truth sometimes..
dude, you can't have the cake and eat it too.. I'm merely stating WHY Sony isn't gonna put an mp3 player in the fricken game.. wake up and smell the coffee and get out of your fantasy world.. there will be no mp3 player for that reason.. it was stated way back in beta already.. dead horse and all that, my opinion notwithstanding

You have no idea what you are talking about! There might be a reason why SOE is against a ingame Music player, but it sure ain't the reason you are claiming! Educate yourself before you speak for SOE!

or.... the method to play music is already here, not quite as cool as the MP3 player idea originally suggested, but its there...

I disabled the sound about 6 months ago.....I just use SonicStage (yeah I have a Sony mp3 player) for music
