Thread: Pistol Choices
As an up and coming Pistoler/BH, I will be able to choose between the FWG5, Scatter Pistol, or the DX2.
I have heard good things about each, but which is the ideal one to use? Opinions? Facts? Thanks.
Yeah there is no ONE pistol:
Have Scout Blasters in the 60/80 - 120/140 dam range with sub 2.5 speed
Same goes for some DH17's I have....typically these have had better minimum damamge than FWG's and FWG's have had higher max (we won't get into what's better speed/dam....sigh)
As well I have a Scatter pistol I purchased when I first entered BH (gave that career up for INSANE weap exp requirements just to still be a noob) that has Min 100/ Max 150 with a sliced 2.1 speed
They are all comparative on the surface but if you use a Scout against a Mountain squill who has 80% Blaster resistance.......well your pet (if ya have one) will kick smacked around, you will see the same fate and will waste 10% of your weapon's condition trying to hurt the mob!!!
Best advice, get to know your mobs weaknesses otherwise they will exploit yours (lack of knowledge) and we will then see someone on here wanting a sign above mobs stating their damage potential/weaknesses!!! HaHa
Thanks for the Info.. I guess I will hang on to my Scout Blaster.. buy an FWG5.. and use my Scatter pistol over buying a DX2, since they are both acid based.
What about the most effective pistol in PvP... vs. no armour?... vs. Marine armour?
The resists are the most important things to watch. But armor is also important as it will decrease your damage. Best thing is to scout your mobs with examine before you fight them. If you have no scouting skills get someone who does to take a look at them for you.
Scatter and DX2 are both acid based and have armor penetration on them. So you damage against both armored and unarmored is better then a scout blaster or a fwg.
But you pay more in ham costs for specials.
But against an acid resistant mob both guns will suck.
As for the armor each type of armor is diffrent and with layering working now some that you think are weak to one thing could now be strong to it instead. The only real thing you can do here is go to a master armorer's shop and look at his wears and get a base feel for each armor type. At most with layering they can add 20% resist with a slice it could go higher to 30%, if I remember correctly. So an armor type that was normally not very good against something could now be pretty effective for defense.
But using the right weapon for the job at hand will net you way more in xp and less down time then you could believe. It is worth picking up hunting in the scout line for the information while you xp up to master. Remember you can surrender it later.
Rebek Starwalker, Bounty Hunter
Tatooine, Corbantis
PRE-CU i like scout for energy, FWG5 for heat damage (useful against some mobs) and SR pistol (only AP1 pistol if u do not have any elite skill)
