I looted this and I don't have a clue what it is for. The exact description is:

Tracking Device Assembly Bracket - Second Segment

An assembly bracket for a tracking device used to locate

downed satellites. Designed for use in an auto-crafting kit.

What is an auto-crafting kit?

Lots of things are explained. Just not to those that don't play on TC. We have to learn about it second hand and often MUCH later.

yeah, i love that about this game... just wondering around not knowing what the *heck* is going on... until somebody has to ruin it for ya and tell ya what it's all about. the problem is nobody likes the mystery of the game. all the games you play have some sort of walkthrough you can buy along with the game, and for me it ruins the game. i'm just doing what somebody else did. the beauty of this game is i have no map, and i stumble alot, and i get myself and others killed.... isn't it great. i find stuff all the time and go huh?!?... sometimes i keep them and wait to hear if it's important... other times i destroy it and find out it's priceless.... and i still have junk in my house that has no point whatsoever.great ain't it. but to answer the original question: i have no idea what it is, why don't you keep it and wait to find out... maybe put it on the galaxy trade forum and see how much you get for it (if anything)....if it's taking up too much space destroy it only to find you need it the very next day.... isn't this great.... horray for mystery.

Its part of a crafting quest in phase4...

(grabbed the info from StGabe's post)

Remote Tracking Device
Quest Giver
: Alpoka Olaseole
Task: You are asked to construct a remote tracking device that can be used to lcoate the villages computer core. In order to to create this you will need to collect items for a loot kit. You need 6 loot items and 3 crafted items (I believe that is right, please correct me if not). The loot items appear to drop randomly from any NPC and the crafted items are MA items. This quest has not yet been completed on TC1 so we do not know what the rewards for it are.
FS Branch Reward: ?
Item Reward: ?

So collect them up in time for phase 4, complete sets will probably be worth quite a bit to crafters if you dont want to take the quest yourself
