I'm an imperial who has found 4 rebel disks and 1 imperial disk.... If I combine the rebel disks, can I then turn them into an imperial recruiter for the 900 imperial factino points? Or do I need to trade them in for imperial disks to turn them into imperial recruiter?

You can give the rebel or imperial disks to a recruiter to get you 500 faction points.

yes, either disk can be used by either side. combine them and hope the disappering bug doesn't get them. then give them to the imp recruiter

You can turn the completed disks to any recruiter. I'm a Rebel and I turned the assembled Rebel data disks to a Rebel recruiter and still got the 500 faction points.
Basically, if you're a rebel then turn in all the disks to a rebel recruiter. If you're an imp then turn in all the disks to an imperial recruiter. If you're neutral turn them in to whichever is closer.
