Thread: More characters?

Besides unlocking a force sensitive slot, are there any plans to give us a second character per server?

I haven't played in awhile, and I loved the idea of only one character, it keeps everyone real and every (well, most) character has more meaning than other games where people crank out 5 characters with no personality. But for some reason I find myself wanting another without changing servers.

There are only two ways to have more than one character per server, and I doubt they'll add another.

Unlock the second one after becoming a Jedi. And a ton of people have two or more accounts.

you're looking at a year+ to fully grind FS and a jedi temp

I've long wondered just why they don't allow us to have a 2nd character on the server for free or a small fee. I'm almost positive EQ2 allows you to do this, as do most other MMORPGs. If they charged us $0.99/month for one extra toon like Square-Enix does, they'd get a lot more money because almost everyone would take advantage of that offer.

A YEAR? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I knew it took months, but that is really awful.
I don't even want either character to be a Jedi.

you are gatted into a 15 week waiting period .. getting the xp to fill the branches is what can take time. If you have the money go up 4xxx commando and grenade grind the xp, if you do about 2 buff seesions a day with grenades you can fill all 6 branches in 6 days.

I've been using thermals, sliced and poweruped (my char is TKM/Command 4XXX/Smuggler X21X) I hit the lair once, feign death, once the second set of 5 has spawned I hit the lair with grenades. I do Giant Baz Nitches on Dath, and it usually takes 1-2 stacks of grenades to kill of the first wave of ten. Don't finish the lair, just go to next mission. Do the same on second mission, then return to the first. Repeat, then kill the lair. Do the same on the second. I make 50k combat XP per lair in about 5 minutes. Giant Baz Nitches don't have babies, so no wasted XP like on Huurton Stalkers. I cap combat in a little over half an hour. Figuring in round trip to the village I usually cap 1-2 times during a buff. That's up to 400k FS XP on one buff. Some guys say they can go even faster. I'm paying 100k for a crate of 25, and am using about 3 crates per tree, so for 6 trees it will end up costing me aorund 1.8 mill for grenades, plus money for buffs and extras. If you have the money for grenades, and can afford to change your template, you can do this quite easily. I got a second account for Christmas, and am doing the same with my new alt, so I will end up with four chars on the one galaxy. I'm done 4 phases, just two more to go! Almost got the whole family! Daddy's comin' home soon!

I suspect the reason they are so restrictive about second character slots on the same server is to prevent muling, since so much of the game's economy is player-based. If everyone had, say, an Armorsmith mule as their alt, it could really hurt the armor market. Armorsmiths would find a very thin market for selling ('cause everyone is just using a mule instead of buying armor), which would dissuade people from being Armorsmiths ('cause they couldn't make decent money at it), which would result in very short armor supply for those who need armor but don't have an Armorsmith mule of their own.

Granted, some people would use the mule to actually become an armor vendor, but by and large, I'd bet that most would grind the mule to Master Armorsmith and let it sit idle except to supply their main toon.

Now imagine that extrapolated to include other artisan professions like Weaponsmiths, Architects, Shipwrights, etc., and you can see the potential problem.

That's my theory, anyway.

IMp dets suck horibly!!!! Use thermal Dets and you will see alot more combat xp flowing in , as well as alot less nades needed. I originaly tried the imp dets as suggested int he nadeing guides and I say they are rubish. Thermals have twice the splash damage as imp dets which means it takes alot less nades, I used about 8 stacks per lair total. AND remember , once critters stop spawning switch to your ellite proffession to attack the lair NOT NADES!!!
