Thread: Planning a player event and I need help

Hi, my guild will have it's one year anniversary this Saturday andmy wife and Iwanted to have a specialguild event called "Capture the Crystal" which will basically be an in game version of "Capture the Flag".

The basic concept is that there will be two teams that meet in the middle of our city and each player will duel every member of the opposing team but not attack yet. Each team will be provided with 3 small houses and 3 crystals with the name of the team on them (crafted crystals). Then one team will head south and one team will head north, place the houses apart from each other, and then place one crystal in each house. Then the houses will have to have the all the names of the opposing team on the admin list. Once both teams are done with this, the game begins.

The first team to find all the opposing team's houses and "capture" all the opposing team's crystals and bring them safely back to one of thier own team's houses will win.

Questions:

1. There will be no death-blows allowed, but since players may be incapped 3 times and die, is there any way to have the duel continue even if they die? If there is not, I was planning on making players clone, that means no rez's or rings allowed, and then if the player was carrying a crystal, he could not leave the crystal until it was givin to another member of thier team that has not died yet. This would mean the clone center area would have to be a "safe zone". Then the cloned player could still help fight through group tef, but could not be carrying a crystal.

2. How many players can a player duel at one time? It appears we are going to have a large turn out for this event and we may have to duelaround 20 people at one time. Is that possible?

3. Duels auto-canceling may be the biggest problem we are going to have. It seems that if dueling players go out of range from each other it sometimes auto-cancels the duel. This would be a huge obsticle to making this event a success. I was wondering if there is any way to prevent this from happening.

The only thing I have come up with would be to have Team 1 stay in the guild and then Team 2 could leave the guild and join another temporary guild. Then the two guilds could go to war with each other. Would this work? Because although it is much harder then simply dueling other players, it would solve all of the above problems.

Some quick feedback would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Judging by that its not a bad idea, but its kinda hard... I think the main problem is trying to get the crystal back to your team's safehouse for the other team to attempt a re-capture. If i remember, and correct me if i'm wrong, you can't take/loot an object off someone who's incapacitated. Not sure if you can while deathblown but thats the main problem i see with the idea as a whole.

About the boundary concern, i'm sure you could lay down extractors or ask some people to stay to act as a boundary.

Wow, lack of customer service amazes me.

Thanks to the one guy who replied to this thread, the below comments do not apply to you.

Well, looks like I had to figure this out on my own since my thread was moved from support to this forum where it was quickly hiden by other posts. You know, would have been nice to get some feedback from someone other then another player. A moderator even moved this post and still no one from SOE replied. This is going to be a large player event probally including around 40-50 players and they don't care. POI's are bugged so I try to come up with something fun for my guild but have a few questions and I can't even get a response from anyone in customer service.

Thank goodness I had the foresight that no one would respondand already started a new guild with my alt and declared war on the two guilds. Players on team one will stay in MOJO and players on team 2 will join the new guild to make it possible to attack each other all the time.

I solved it on my own but I would have still liked a response. I have spent a lot of time planning this event. I thought they wanted to support player events.
