I want to know if you have to be a rebel to become a jedi, and if you have to go dark from there. Can you just be an Imperial and become a jedi and go to dark jedi or do you have to be a rebel?

As a padawan your just like any player you can join rebel , imperial or stay neutral, once you become knight however you given the choice of light or dark and you gotta stick with it or you need to do trials over.

You decide during the Knight Trials. You can be either faction up to that point though.

I was actually curious about something related to this. Here's the question:
If you're an padawan who's a member ofthe rebel faction, can you still pick dark when complete the knight trials? If so what happens to your rebel standing? Are you immediately removed from the rebel faction and automatically made imp? Or vice versa where you're an imperial padawan. Would you have the option of going light upon completion of the trials?

Half way through your knight trials your asked which side you'll go and that'll dictate your next few trials which involve killing faction npcs (rebel or st commandos). So if your rebel aligned and choose dark you'll need to grind to imp faction to be able to kill rebel commandos or vice versa.
