Can this be down TKM? I know it can be done with a pistol bleed, then a peace....but can a melee profession accomplish this feat?

I used to have some success using unarmed lunge. Sometimes it works, sometimes everybody sees you.

As I pikeman I have had a similar problem.
A tactic that has worked for me MOSTLY (and I emphasise the MOSTLY) is to edge into range until the nearest 1 or 2 get a question mark appear. Then I hit 'attack' and often only one or the couple of mobs that have ?'s come running towards me. I then back off a bit, kill what comes, then repeat.
Obviously this is no use against a mob in the middle of a crowd but at least you can work your way towards them without starting a gang bang
