Guide to being a better Forum Member v1.0
-Geral Corasjo-![]()
First of all, I think its terrible that the people who just want to post good ideas on these forums have to put a disclaimer at the top of their thread saying...
"i just have an idea, please don't flame me"
"i don't want to get 1-starred but.."
"Just my 2 cents/credits.."
You guys know what that means? Thats right, that means we (defined "WE" as in the Star Wars Galaxies Forum Members) are growing too obnoxious for our own good. When people are afraid to post ideas because they're afraid of being flamed by a 12 yr old kid, who has nothing better to do in his free time than make fun of people who actually wants to make this game better, rather than complain about it. Make this place that much happier by keeping your oppinions to yourself.
On to the main presentation:
How do I know when to post, or when not to?
Easy. Follow these simple guidelines
- If you think the person is giving a good idea for the game, whether you think its good or not feel free to post. (See: Somone posted an idea, and I hate it..)
- If the person is being sarcastic and dumb, do not post because you'll probaly be sarcastic and dumb back....thus keeping the cycle in motion.
Someone posted an idea/question that was stated in 15 other threads on the front page...
Chances are they're in a hurry, so they didn't check...don't go flipping out on them calling them a "NOOB" and telling them to use the search function for the forums, because its almost worthless.
You have several options
- DO NOT POST IN THE THREAD AND LET IT SIMPLY GO AWAY
- You can answer their question (most of the time in the same number of words in which you would of flamed them
) - Or you can point them in a direction, saying that was posted "HERE", "HERE", and "HERE"..and thats a good place for feedback.
Someone posted an idea, and I hate it...
Simple. DO NOT POST IN THE THREAD.
or maybe: Tell them why you don't like their idea, and ways it can be fixed...that can go a long ways. Theres nothing worse than either a 1-star or, "THIS IS STUIPID LOL"
Someone posted an idea, and I kind of like it...
- Tell the poster, you like the idea!
- Even more, what I like better...improve on the idea. It makes it that much better.
There. In conclusion, this guide will hopefully help us be better forum members. Alot of the old vets are gone, and theres plenty of new players coming. Do NOT scare them away, even though their ideas may have been mentioned a few times..just give them a compliment. It goes a long ways. Besides, theses are the people that fill up YOUR server.

Now, I wrote this at 1am EST..its sure to be edited in the morning since I'm half asleep. But hey, this is when I right best..when I don't know what I'm writing
That is, if a mod didn't delete it. I'm not trying to start a fight, just pointing out an obvious problem.
