Part of the excitement of an MMO is the exploration. I remember playing in beta 3 and having a blast discovering POIs. There wasn't a POI tab back then and very few guides on the forums.
Currently there are very few hidden POIs. I wish the POI tab had most(not all) of the POIs listed but did not give the waypoint to them until you found them. This would let you know there are POIs to look for, but it wouldn't be as simple as fly here, get badge and return.
For those uber hardcore 1337 dudes... they can go look up the POIs on a website.
I really hope the expansion doesn't give direct waypoints to EVERY POI. I'll be a bit disappointed if it does.

/agreeWhile me and my budy where destroying Battle Droids and SBD's last night I brought up the same idea! because we had to ask around to find a waypoint to the Death Watch Bunker, unlike the Warren which provides a POI WP to it. I love the fact that I had to 'heaven forbid'! talk to fellow players to get infomation. Madeit feal more umm... FUN

Good idea
I still remember the times before they added this and you would have to find NPCs to give you the waypoints or even sell them to you. The NPCs are still there but kind of pointless now

you do realize... you can NOT use the POI waypoints. You can use the tab to find out what cool stuff there is if you want but you do not need to activate the waypoint. You can even NEVER look at the POI tab and explore the planet with no idea what is out there.
On the other hand, there are the badge geeks who want badges, the fanboi who want to visit famous sites, and the casual player that wants to find some cool looking places without spending weeks looking.
The POI tab allows other play-styles without impacting your play-style.

What good is a badge if all you have to do is turn on a waypoint and fly to it? To me it seems pointless. I would say leave the major POIs in there. Stuff like the Krayt graveyard, Jabbas Palace, etc. But I would like to be able to find something that is somewhat hidden. It would add immersion to the game.
To me, giving us waypoints to POIs is like placing blue frogs on the live server. If it doesn't require any work, what's the point?
Just the fact that they are in my datapad makes me less excited about going there. Let's assume I didn't use the POI tab. I finally find a cool POI after searching for hours, only to find that it is being camped by 20 people afk looting. That would suck. The idea would be that these places would be less crowded and you would actually feel like you found something.

"can NOT use" is all good and dandy, but its like the odd answer in the back of your school math books, u know they are there so u use them. ohh u would search for a bit then cheat. why not mix match the POI's? make soem with "WP's" others with "CLUES" and others u are just left in the dark stuck searching for infomationfrom anyone who may have found it.

hehe.. that's a good example. been so long since i've been in school that i forgot about that.
i think a comprimise would be good. there are a few hidden pois now(7 i think). but adding a ton more would be an easy way for the devs to add new content.
