Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I have grouped a few houses in on a mesa outside of Mos Eisley (yes, outside the city limits), and I was wondering how I can place a garden in the middle of this kind of private compound? Well, I know I can't do it, but can it be done? Do I have to become a politician, or can an architect place it, or am I out of luck? Just what are the conditions that need to be met to do this kind of outdoor decorating? I'm not interested in starting a town, I just had quite a bit of stuff to store, and thought it might be nice to do more than have a line of houses. Thanks for your input!

you are out of luck unless, you become a politician and make a city right there. Outdoor decor is placed within a city limit.

Yup, Only a Politician of a city that he governs can drop decorations on the land... Sux.. Otherwise the server would be bogged down with objects that just hurt the performance of the server... Hopefully they'll be upgrading the server hamsters.

I have a follow-up question to that, something that I have been curious about for quite some time. Is there a cost involved in dropping, say, a statue, and is there a limit to how many you can drop?

Yes, I believe there is... It's part of the City Maintenance... everything has an hourly charge... it's not much per item but have 40 lamp posts at 40cr an hour it adds up pretty quick.

Thanks man, thats what I needed to know. I had no plans to draft the plans for our city with fountains, but I wanted to do a colonnade of statues leading up to the hall.

I believe the city maintenance cycle is like 1 week... I'm not sure if they changed that but since I was the godfather of a town on Bloodfin... The mayor and I often discussed city costs and maintenances... If you're an independent mayor... the best thing is to draw some taxes out to cover the cost of decorations... were at like 20% sales and the vehicle garage and that covers it.
