I look on this post and I keep seeing people arguing..or should I say TRYING to argue.. the point that Hoth is inhabited by vast varieties of creatures. I can only assume that when you try to argue this point, and use things like an old SNES video game as your proof, that the person must know little to nothing about Star Wars except what one can see in the movies. It's not a bad thing, don't get me wrong. One doesn't have to be a huge devoted fan to Star Wars to enjoy this game. It has been explained in great detail that Hoth is in fact, a desolate, uninhabited, near-lifeless planet. As someone already stated, it is the fact that it was uninhabited and desolate that drew the Rebels to it. The fact that the living conditions were unbearable and colonization of the planet was nearly impossible also drew the Rebels to Hoth; this made the Empire disregard Hoth, for the underestimated the Rebels and did not think they would risk their lives to inhabit a planet with a climate such as Hoth. Yes there is life, but not much. And given the current storyline.. where the Rebels are still finishing up emptying their forces off of Yavin, the idea of an Echo Base on Hoth is no where even in consideration in the minds of the Rebels. The idea is thus far unheard of in this current storyline.

I also see the people yapping away about how so many things are already out of context, what would adding Hoth hurt. You don't fix inadequaties by hiding them behind new ones. I mean, you want to add a Hoth in the game even though it would contradict everything ever written or said about that particular planet, and what's worse.. is that it doesn't fit into the current storyline? What else would you like? Perhaps you'd enjoy playing as an battle hardened Ewok, playing as a star pilot for the Rebel Allicance in JTL? This post is simply out of boredom and there is no need to debate the downfalls of adding Hoth into the galaxy. The Devs I'm sure are bright enough to see the stupidity of this idea.

I've lost the will to debate this further but yes... Hoth WAS in fact, uninhabited and desolate. The living conditions were nearly unbearable, which is why Hoth was actually only set up as a temporary sanctuary for the Alliance. And the mere idea of ruling Hoth in as a possible for establishing a base for the Alliance will not even be thought of for roughly another year - year and a half from the current storyline.

This concludes my banter for the time being.

/applaud, yes uninhabited by humans and fellowaliens, there are some creatures. like the white monster that attacked luke in ESB and if u look on the ground around him their are bones of other creatures buried within the snow. then taun tauns may be native to that place as well. so no one lives their except for creatures.

The 'White thing' was a Wampa.

The bones were Luke's Tauntan, that the Wampa had eaten, and filled up on, thats why he didnt have to eat Luke, and left him, 'hangin around'.

Just wanted to get that straight...

And I agree, Hoth should not be a planet for now. Maybe make it for an Overt Battlefield at most, but we wouldnt need a full planet for that.

Heres something that just popped into my mind... what if they could somehow make HOTH, PvP overtbattlegrounds for ONLY 2 groups of over 10 players each?? They could drop a couple of squads of NPCs for both sides, and like the Vette, when ppl want to head there, they would talk to Leia or Vader (or other NPCs, and they could talk to them covert, then get overt on transport, like the Vette), and then their grp would head over. There, they would get set up with the closest grp of similiar numbered groups. Either that, or your grp could get a message when another team is found to battle, so they could PVE or go overt hunting untill time to go.

It would be kind of like the Battlegrounds in DAOC meets the SWG Vette. I think that would bring alot to PVP.

I thin they could make a very cool adventure planet out of Hoth. Imagine this:

Only possible to travel on mounts, and only Tauntauns or similar, hardened mounts. Normal speederbikes would freeze up.

Only safe to venture out during the daytime, because of the extreeme tmperatures at night. If youre not at a base at night ud need a rangercamp. the more advanced the more people it could support. If you went there and night fell and you had no camp up, you would lose hp, just like a dot, untill freezing like a icecube.

Numerous caves could be put there with tons of content, who really knows what lives beneath the snow?

A hidden rebel base could be there for the imperials to raid, a tougher varianrt of the warren.

Maybe even only making it reachable by own spaceship.....meaning no shuttles to hoth.

Maybe soem other ideas. Its probably been discussed in other thread, but still id love hoth as an ultra hard adventure planet, where the desolateness really plays a part.

for a wampa to live (and get that big) there had to be things for it to eat.

They are kinda like the Baleen whales, that sift the sea for plankton tolive on. They grow quite large, and so do Blue whales that do the same thing... So... Maybe... Wampas eat the snow all the time for the microbes that live in it. And only occasionally get to eat flesh and bone when an occasional spaceship crashes, or Rebel strays too far from the base.

/end humor

Who knows, but like I said, back in '80 it was on the trading cards I think (I know its the in the Decipher CCG at least) that it shows the bones in the wamps cave, and it says "Tauntan Bones" and goes on to say, something about it was what was left of Lukes beast.

So I'm not arguing that there COULD be other creatures, just that the bones were imports, so to speak, and not native food.

Directly before Luke was almost killed by a Wampa - which can eat an entire tauntaun in one meal. There must be other stuff to eat out there. Han and the others just weren't aware of what life was there yet.

Says that Tauntauns ar native to Hoth. So there's life there

WOW i realy i dont enjoy people that talk about stuff they realy dont know about /sigh im am qoteing PROOF form the starwars web site it self

"Hoth is the sixth planet in the remote system of the same name. It is a world of snow and ice, surrounded by numerous moons. Small meteorites that have wandered away from a nearby asteroid field constantly pelt Hoth's icy surface. This icy world has developed a number of indigenous lifeforms, including the wampa ice creature, and the tauntaun. The daytime temperatures of Hoth were bearable for properly dressed humans, but the Hoth nights are too hostile even for the native creatures. Hoth's entire surface is covered by ice, but in various locations, volcanic fissures open up steam vents, depositing rocks and minerals in darker patches on the glacier plains. A few mountain chains penetrate the permanent ice shelves, and some of these are geologically active. Along Hoth's equator is a deep fissure in the ice shelves, reaching hundreds of meters into what seems like another world. In this place, never exposed to Hoth's blue-white sun, is a cache of lumni-spice, a rare fungal growth valued by the galaxy's criminal element. Before the Alliance established a base in the northern hemisphere of Hoth, a pirate leader named Raskar attempted to seize the cache, only to be chased off by a creature known as a dragon-slug. Other rarely seen creatures in the Hoth wilderness include land scavengers known colloquially as Hoth hogs, and small rodents such as snowmice and ice scrabblers. "

yea so Choke on it. people live there you can live there. yea thats right....man its good to be right. and ill site the info just for ya so you can choke on that 2. http://www.starwars.com/databank/location/hoth/?id=eu
