Thread: 500k Player Bounties Yes/No?

I still cant understand why we havent been able to put up player bounties yet. Sure, Jedis are getting all the love they ever needed as a hunted breed, but I really dont see why we cant put up player bounties on other people.

Icant say I have a lot of enemies or anything, but god knows that somewhere along the line there have been people that just need to be put down. How would this work to avoid griefing?

High prices, and a warning to the players you have bounties on.

Example - You go to the BH terminal, and put in a bounty for say, 4 or 500k minimum. This will help to avoid too many noobs putting them on people, especially realizing that for 500k all you are getting is one person being smoked once.

That person gets an onscreen warning, and an email letting them know that a bounty has been placed on them. They then have 12-24 hours to either take action, or get placed on the terms. Their only defense in this case is to go to a BH terminal themself, and counter-bid the bounty on the person that put it up for them.

Once all is said and done, the BH reads the term, finds his mark, and hunts them just like he does Jedi. I would also say to make this only available to Master BH.

Anyone agree that this would be a fun/interesting addition to the game?

That doesnt really explain anything

You have to realize that for high prices, you arent going to be able to realistically put someone on the terms 50 times. In order to avoid someone working "In Cahoots" with a BH and just /tipping the money back and forth, say, 50% of the money you spent is gone into limbo. The actual BH would only get paid 250k or something.

Put a time limit as well. Only able to be on the terms once a week. Once every two weeks. Simple enough workaround.

Lets say, you and I both put the same person on the terms. I could "buy out" your contract, like a higher bid. Whoever has the higher bid wins the contract. Whoever was killed as a result of the BH would get a nice fat message saying "JoeBH has completed his contract on you as paid by Gulak" etc. No real griefing done there.

One death a week from a random BH is realistic. And its not like you cant defend yourself

There is a school of thought where people that don't want to pvp should not be forced into it. If someone who falls into this catagory gets a bounty on his or her head once, that is still forcing someone who doesn't want to pvp into pvp. Remember that said person may not be faction alligned or jedi.

Yeah, gotta watch out for all those dancer/chef defense stackers. Good thing that your local weaponsmith is buffed and in full composite whenever he pops out to load a factory or check a harvester.

You're not going to get non-consensual PVP in the game. Consensual player bounties could be implemented, however:

1) Mark lists himself as available for hunting. (Current implementation: by email to hunt organizer)

2) BH picks up a target. (Current implementation: BH asks for a mark)

3) When BH finds mark, a duel is offered. (Current implementation: Mark is obliged by his/her word to accept the duel)

4) After duel, payout. (Current implementation: Mark and BH mail organizer with results of duel, organizer sends a portion of the payout to the BH, along a portion to the Mark for taking the time/risk to be the target. Winner of the duel gets 75% of the payout, loser 25%. Adjust percentages to maximize participation and interest.)

You're not going to get the devs to implement the tools that would automate the above setup. But you can implement most of the gameplay aspects of player bounties, at least among honorable players.

Actually it would work if the hunter accepted the bounty on him, that way no griefing would develop, if both parties accept

The idea of making it consensual would be pretty sweet IMO.

Player walks up to the terms, enters himself into the "Able to be hunted" category and off he goes. Im sure I am not the only one who would volunteer myself to be ABLE to have a bounty put on myself. Not randomly, mind you. Someone would still have to actually pay some dough for this to happen.

Nonetheless, I would find the BH stuff pretty boring with the amount of time it takes them to get the marks they do get, Jedi's "hiding" etc.

Something like this could make the game more interesting.

Which, at current pace, it really could use

it would be great for RP if you walked up to someone and had an argument, so you place a bounty on him

the player who got the bounty on him has a window pop up "a bounty has been placed on your head, do you accept?"

yes i know its not perfect but its a start for player bounties

What about the PVP ranking system.

Once you reach a certain rank your put on the terminal. Most likely if you have a high PVP rank your going to like

the idea of someone hunting you because of your skill.

Now your suggestions here I can agree with. But there was a post on the BH forums implying that players bounties and thus non-consensual PvP should be added to provide player content (for the BH). I would completely agree withsome sort of voluntarysystem assuggested here. Any other system with non-consensual PvP is bound to cause griefing.
