I'm not sure if this is the right spot to put this, but all the other forum topics didn't seem to fit.
I never got a chance to be an Ithorian due to the fact that I got SWG before JTL came out. I would have definitely picked an Ithorian if the race was there in the beginning but alas it wasn't. I would have thought we would be given a chance to repick our race once JTL came out incase some people would want to be Ithorians or Sullustans, instead of deleting their character and starting over again, but we weren't.
I was wondering if there is a definite reason as to why one can't change their race? I know for a fee one can switch servers and keep their toon looking the same as well as keep their skills, but if the technology exist for something like that then why can't there be a way for someone to change their race on a character of their choice? I know it's not as simple as copying and pasting the code and such -- but still -- it'd be nice to have this option ... even if it's just a one time thing with a fee. I for one wouldn't mind paying a fee to change my race and I'm sure others wouldn't as well. Especially if a certain race wasn't in the game before and then afterwards it was.
I'm just looking for a good reason for why this option isn't available. I've asked a few CSRs and I always get, "You have to delete your character and start over in order to change your race."

I've read dev posts before that race and gender were things they would never change for a character.
If race was a changeable option it would be wierd for one day to see a wookiee, then the next see the same character as a Bothan.

I sent PMs to all the devs asking about this. Pex wrote me back and said that this would NEVER be possible.

Ive heard this is one of the few rules set by Lucas. Apparently he or someone high up said to never allow it.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. I was hoping that since the CU is coming and being that it is something that is going to change the game completely, that we should at least be able to respec our race just once along with our skills. I agree that it'd be odd seeing someone a Wookie one day and then a Human the next ... which is why I think having it done once would be a great idea.
This gives some of us some hope but then again it's something from GameSpy and not something "official" like a word of mouth from the developers.

Additional info, from the ID Corr...
I got an answer from the devs about this:
"The GameSpy article posted incorrect information. You will NOT be able to change species. Image Designers will NOT have this ability."
This info came to us from Producer, Dallas Dickinson.
I think this clears it up for us.
It might be inconvenient for many of us, who are now stuck with our species choices, but I personally welcome this decission.

I think there is a conspiracy going on here. Every few days someone brings up the species change thread and we get the same responses... Not going to happen...then someone waits for a few days and start another thread about the same thing....
