Thread: Not Enough Respec Points I am confused

I've tried searching, but the wonderful forum search is broken yet again....

I went through the respec process with my character when Bloodfin was copied to TC and thought I had it down. But I guess not...

I started out with -9/250 points when I logged in thanks to the new Rifleman requirements. I dropped Novice Medic to get 6/250 free. Then I go to respec, start dropping and reassigning things... and I try to add a box and get a message like You Do Not Have Enough Respec Points, however I have 52/250 points free. I thought your "standard" points converted at a 2 to 1 ratio --- but the Standard Number is 0. Shouldn't it be 52 (or 46, accounting for the 6 I had that should be "out of play" because they weren't assigned beforehand? Where can you see your acctual "respec" points?

The 52/250 is the number of Skill Points you have available, not the number of Respec Points you have. My suggestion is to click the button that says "Remove All", which will completely wipe out your template and reset your Skill Points to 250/250. Then go through and reassign all your skills until you no longer have any respec points left.

Remember:

Novice Respec points go into Novice boxes (Novice Marksman, Novice Brawler, etc.)
Standard Respec points go into the Novice skill tree (Pistols 1, Unarmed 2, etc.)
Elite Respec points go into the Elite Novice boxes AND skill tree (Novice Pistoleer, Meditate 3, etc.)

Another cool thing about respec points, is Standard Respec points can be converted into Elite ones if you have enough Standard ones. (I don't know the exact number, though)

Has this been confirmed anywhere and if so anyone know the points needed yet? I have 164 std pts (I think that's quite a bit to have personally in std -- too much dabbling ) -- and I don't seem to be able to have that option, so I am wondering if this is legit or not?

Thanks for any help!!

I know it's legit, because I've done it. The respec window doesn't tell you that those will convert, but they will.
Just get the Elite skills like you normally would, and it will drain your standard points, if you don't have any Elite ones.

Except that they don't convert ENOUGH. I was a TKA (master) and commando (not master) prior to the upgrade. I reactivate my account to try it... and discover that the huge skillpoint requirements of commando have shafted me trying any of the 'simpler' elite professions. I end up in a situation where I've got a lot of skillpoints, but can't sink them into anything but one more box of commando, or shuffled into other 'standard' professions.
Blows when the only reason I had master marksman was to meet the old-style commando requirements.

This is actually a question I posed in my server forum, but it did not get answered. So am I right in guessing that since the only areas I would respec anyways come from Master Marksman the best I can hope for is a full line in an elite profession I already have? Here are the numbers I have:

Master Pistoleer, BH 0040, Smuggler 0040, Master Marksman, 4000 Scout, 4000 Brawler

So basically in respec I can give back the actual Master Marksman box, the rifle and carbine lines for a total of 34 (standard?) points. So if I understand "novice" points are only for that first box, correct? So theoretically can I now respec 28 of these points to 14 elite for say 4040 in BH? I have not been able to find a rock-solid definition for what is Elite, Standard or Novice so I am just not too sure. Unfortunately I just did not have time to go through any forums until now, and the search just is not pulling me the answers that I am looking for. Not only that, but I was redistributing from BH to get back into another profession like CH so I guess I gave up all of those LLC elite and Invest points for nothing. Oh well.

Another problem is that I will not even be back in town at my computer for at least a month so I am guessing I will only have the option to respec once, and kind of want to make it count when I do respec.
