This is being reposted in this forum, with the hopes that someone may get some value out of it, the jedi forum sure didnt seem to enjoy what info I was trying to share with them.

Havent seen this listed or posted anywhere else, so I figured I would share it.

Get yourself a nice "Melee Combat Droid" with an "Auto Repair Module" the higher the better, these little guys come with around 4500 ham and only cost droid batteries to keep em going (for the most part)

Teach the pet/droid a minimum or3 commands Attack, Follow, Guard

Before combat issue the Guard command, this will cause the pet/droid to help you out in combat.

Create a macro such as this or tailor to your own needs.

/tellpet attack;

/pause 1;

/tellpet come;

I personally use /tellpet so I dont have to deal with spam but the choice is yours. Camp yourself 50m+ away from the mobs you wish to pull to you, turn on the auto-repair feature, target one ofthe mobsand hit your pet macro, you'll see an "!" appear above the targeted mobs head and it will start to run at your pet/droid, without links.

Observations if your droid hits before you do he tends to get the initial hate and thus tanks for you till you out damage it, which shouldnt take long and the droids auto-repair should more then cover its own healing needs. After which time you'll become the tank while your droid helps you kill your target.

I've used this method quite sucessfully as a novice profession using auto-attack to kill mobs at or just below my level, no swarming and no need to group, with other live players.

I have also tested this method on pulling single soldiers away from Bases that have towers, its a nice safe easy pull method, no need to be close to use it.

They did say droids were going to be useful again, and I think this is the best use I have found for them.

This works pretty nicely with some pets too, although other pets ignoreyour second command and keep charging at the enemy.

If you use a slow pet (say, a bantha), the enemy seems to register the attack the moment the bantha makes up it's mind and charges straight at dear old pet. Using a fast pet (say, a carrion spat) means that by the time the /tellpet follow command has been sent, the pet's too close and runs straight back to the fight.

Another pulling technique is to get yourself rifles 0/2/0/0, which gives you both /cover and /concealshot. If your foe isn't surrounded by his backup and all staring right at you, with a little practice you can quickly isolate them.

You CAN do this by going prone with a firearm and not using and /cover and /concealshot of course, which is pretty useful if you don't want to put points into rifle and/or are a pure melee fighter, but this is risky. Try and make sure that (a) your foe's backup don't surround him and (b) his backup aren't facing him. If your prone you can often get a couple of shots off before they even know which way to run.

Final note, make sure your firearm has a range greater than 55 meters though, or this is just too risky.

Another way to do it ( Iwas pistoleer/rifleman at the time grinding pistol xp) is to get in range with the pistol, use kneecap, and run back a bit. Worked every time for me
