Thread: Need Help Badly...

Not sure where I should post this, so I'm posting it here.

My husband made a post that was in no way inflammatory, trolling, degrading, etc, but was simply posting about the crashing to desktop problem. The worst words he used in the post was "fawk" and "damn", yet now that post is deleted and he's banned from the boards. Since he can't post, I'm posting for him.

Who does he need to call to dispute this and get this changed?

Is there any way to know who closed it and banned him? He'd like to lodge a complaint with that person's manager.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'd take a look here and see if any of the links get you what you want. However, after looking at that, I'd guess your husband is out of luck:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Announcements&message.id=256

Perhaps you can PM Garva on his behalf, but there is no guarantee that will work.

Thanks for your help. I read that thread, and I don't see where he did anything wrong. He voiced his opinion about an actual problem, and instead gets banned for it. I will PM Garva and see if he responds. This is just wrong, it's not like he posted graphically how the devs should kill themselves or anything. He was complaining about his game crashing, which has happened since he installed JTL, even AFTER reformatting his hard drive (ironically, JTL beta never crashed on him, yet the "finished" product does). It seems to me that if SOE doesn't want to hear criticisms of their games, maybe they should DO something about some of these errors instead of lock threads and ban people.

I could see the devs deleting a post like that if it were posting in say the game guides... when it might belong in the tech support area... but banned from the boards? Not cool. What forum did he post in?

And I agree... those two examples you gave are no where near what I see on the boards.

Jump to Lightspeed forum, as he's in space whenever he crashes to desktop, with the exception of one time, when it happened browsing the bazaar in Coronet.

I'm guessing the version of the F word used was what did it. Even though it isn't the word, its just a substitution for the same thing. I think I saw the post that was deleted and he used it in the title. According to the community policies, that won't be tolerated. All it takes is one forum member to submit a complaint. Since the moderators have the sole discretion to police this type of thing, I'm guessing the best he can do is to try and get his ban turned into a suspension. I've only seen one instance in the last three years (including Beta), where a moderator was overruled.

Wouldn't a suspension be worse than a ban?

And yeah, I could see the title as being a problem. But if they fix the problem, they won't have people complaining about it. He was mad because he has yet to die in the current chassis, and to have a crash cause the damage - well, I say it's just a game, but I can see his point at the same time. Chassis are not cheap

I'm not sure if this forum has a filter for bad words but most forums do not like people trying to get around filters with terms like "fawk", and that can be taken the same way as the other F word.

perhaps your husband should learn to express his opinion without the use of swear words or words intended to invoke swear words.

What's done is done but you cannot and will not receive any kind of service anywhere with the use of these words, even if you pretend they are "fake". Flies are attracted to honey, not vinegar. Good luck with everything and tell hubby to cool it.
