I was shocked when I read the post about the new loot and it was made to sound like these were in the game since the initial launch, yet in all my days of farming thugs (the best place in the universe to find useless loot), I've never EVER looted one of these. Who had them?
Another question is, is there something rewarding in repairing a dud when they can be crafted? Or is this loot actually presenting us with new firework types?

These are given as a reward for running afew simple missions from one of the NPCs in the Imperial Outpost on Dantooine. May be given by others, bt this is one place that I know of.

I got a dud firework from a noble in Bestine as a reward.

Use to get them a lot from the Gungan place where you could get palm fronds and such. Unfortunately the containers there have been nerfed (along with many other things.)
The description in the loot revamp article was something like, "turn your dud firework into a real firework." Well whoopdeedoo! Better be one heck of a firework!

Just wishful thinking on my part - since they said that some craftableschematics in the game now can only be gotten by reverse-engineering looted items, and maybe we'd be getting some new firework types.

Come from either missions or dropped from NPCs they are VERY rare gotten 2 out of probably 10,000 NPCs (estimate).
