I am now ready to buy a house so I have a place to call home.I actually bought a deed for a small Corellian house but I’ve been having some trouble finding a place to put it.I guess I have to be a citizen of a particular town/city in order to build my house there? How do I become a citizen? Can I build my house outside of a city? One of the main reasons I want a house is for storage.I almost always have my personal inventory completely full so I would like a place where I can leave a lot of my stuff that I don’t need to have with me at all times. Is there something in particular that I should be looking for that would help me maximize my space? I am also grinding Artisan at the moment and would like to eventually have my own shop. Can I run it out of my house? What s the difference between a house and a business? Is there any? Is there an easy way to place furniture in my home? I’ve heard that this is not a simple task. (Sorry for the randow thoughts, I'm just brain dumping at the moment.)

I've searched the forums for some sort of guide on residences, vendoring and home owning but have so far been unsuccessful. Can anyone help me out or perhaps point me in the right direction? Any help is much appreciated.

In some towns with building restrictions - ask the mayor for zoneing rights

Hehe, you need the mayor to grant you zoning rights before you can place a house there.

Once your house is down, go inside and declare residence on the little terminal.

Can I build my house outside of a city?

Yes, you can.

A medium will offer more space and does not take up many lots.

It is actually a very simple task. Where you heard from may not have tried recently, but commands have been put in place. You buy or find somethings, and go to your inventory while in your house. Select drop on the item in the place you want it to be. Now you have commands, move up, down, forward, or back, rotate left and right. If you want to put something on the wall, go to the wall, drop the item. Then select it, and type /move up xxx. I would say 150 to start with, then you can /move up /move down however you want.

You need to be a merchant to place a vendor. Finding a trusted merchant on your server might be a good idea.

I was nervous about my first house, it wasn't until a few months into it I finally bought one and joined a player's city. Its pretty fun because you meet the mayor plus a few citizens. Don't forget to pay maintence on it, I think its like 16 credits/hour for a small, 34 credits/hour for a medium, and 50 credits/hour for a large...if you don't pay maitence it will slowly decay til its gets destroyed....then poof.

You can also get a safety deposit box at a bank terminal. only bad thing about doing this is you can only access the safety deposit box from the planet you join the bank on. In safety deposit boxes you can store up to 100 items i think.

Heh, Imperial players should get an option to join the First Imperial Bank, or something like that. Banks located EVERYWHERE

OK, I was going to make a joke about low monthly fees, but then it started to sound like a good idea. So here's a proposal:

For a fee, you can access your safety deposit box from any banking terminal. You can already deposit and withdraw credits from any bankning terminal, so why not? There's no fee for accessing it from the bank you joined. I think I'll go post that in the In Concept thread, or wherever it is we can post these ideas.

There's a house guide in SOE's site:

It's good, except that the numbering on the two Naboo house styles is the wrong way round (Style 2 is the round 1-lot house).

Actually a Medium home hold just as much as a small (exception is small naboo style 2). all medium and small homes use 2 lots and hold 150 items. All a medium home is eye candy with higher maintnence.

Thanks to everyone for their input. Asusual,Imade another simple thing a little more complicated than it really needed to be. I got myself a little house on Corellia with a nice view of a river where I like to spend some timefishin. It's a very nice place where I can go to get away from it all. Ahhhhh.

To solve my storage issue, I've crafted myself a bunch of travel packs and appropriatley labeled them. Now they just "stick" to the wall in my new shack and it's actually quite easy to take items out of any of them and put them in my inventory, if the need arises.

I ended up building my shack outside of a town as I never did figure out how to get a mayor to grant me zoning rights. I guess if I spent a little time tracking down a mayor, I'm sure I could find one but at the moment I'm quite content with my current residence.

I've also set up my first vendor and now have a little business going. Placing furniture was also a breeze once I got the hang of it.

Again, thanks for your help.
