After hunting for about a week on Talus nonstop, I finally looted all of the parts I needed to repair a broken datapad!
I looted the datapad housing, connectors, backlight, broken datapad, and the battery. Excitedly, I put all of the parts into the housing and....
Nothing. They just disappeared one by one as I put them in.
Just a warning to anyone else spending hours and hours trying to check out some of the new "content."

Ouch, sorry mate thats harsh.
This is why they should give TC players more help, I dont know, they could spawn all the NPCs that drop the new parts in one static location so they could test drop rates and functionality more easily or something, rather than just pushing out content with a cryptic clue and then finding out a week later, at a player's expense, that its broken

I think you have to now loot all the parts to make the printer, put the data pad in the printer and make a poster.
Emphasis on I think there.
Emphasis on I think there.

WRONG!!!! Its not a player's job, even on TC, to test this stuff. They are paid dollars to make this stuff work. They just don't seem to care enough about their job or their product to have it work.

I think that's actually with the broken hand-held viewscreens, instead of the broken datapad.

I think your right. What is the point of fixing these then?

Have you tried examining the datapad after you put all the parts in see if there is a read option, I beleive those are supposed to make a story thing like the ones that drop from the DWB.

Yup. But the datapad never game out of the housing, that's all I have left is a database housing that says it has 0/5 parts. (Although, the datapad housing's description only talks about 4 parts that need to go in it...hmmm....)

Did you /examine the housing? Like a Loot kit? It could say what you may be missing. Just a thought.

AFAIK, the loot kits (rugs, gongs etc.) also display 0/X parts even when you put parts in them, but when you examine them, they show which parts are in and which are still missing - perhaps that is the case with the datapad too. Maybe you're just missing the final part?

Yup, I thought of that too, but the examine on the housing doesn't change when you add items, there's no "checklist" like there is on the loot kits. I'm wondering if there might be a magical fifth item somewhere. Hmm.
I put in a ticket, and got "I'm sorry you lost items from your house, log off for 30 minutes, etc." Bleh.
