hello, SWG community.
i was looking at the new loots and noticed that the writing in the posters is basically transliterated english. in other words, the posters actually say, "victory through conform," "no division," etc. this got me thinking about the alphabet that was being used and--well, here's my theory. THE SWG ALPHABET IS BASED IN PART ON THE HEBREW ALPHABET. i haven't looked at (or found) all the letters yet, but it something like this...
a = HEBREW aleph(looks like a K)
b =
c = ??? (three staggered lines)
d = HEBREW cursive dalet (looks like a 7 with a line)
e =
f =
g =
h = greek captial xi (three horizontal lines)
i = HEBREW waw (looks like a 1)
j =
k = HEBREW kaf (looks like a backwards C)
l =
m =
n = ??? (english cursive n? backwards english n?)
o = HEBREW cursive samek (looks like a circle)
p =
q =
r = HEBREW resh (looks like a 7)
s = HEBREW s(h)in (looks like a lopsided W)
t = ??? (downward pointing arrow)
u = HEBREW tet (looks like a box with the top line broken and facing in)
v = HEBREW tsade (looks like a Y)
w =
x =
y = ??? (v with a short line in the middle)
z =
what do you think? any idea from where the other letters come?
thanks,
-dc

This probably answers your questions http://www.aurebesh.com/origin.html
But in short they are more like Norse runes.

The alphabet's various letters appear to be based on some Runic, Hebrew, Greek, and otherancient writing systems. The Aurebesh K looks very much like Hebrew kaf. Some of the letter appear to be reformed Latin as well. Some have the same number of strokes, etc. Although, as the author of Aurebesh states he used Runic, most of the letters are not from Runic, but overall it does have a Runic-like look. For a great website on Runic (and every other script in the world) check out this site:

There are also somesymbols that are used to represent combinationsof two letters, such as:ch, sh, th, ae, oo, kh, eo and ng.
A nice picture of the extended Arebesh alphabet is located here. Props to Stephen Crane who published the article in which I found that link.

Nice link DeQuosaek. Auberesh is very much based on English spelling conventions althoughI find "kh" an interesting addition since very few English words have "kh" andthere is alsono "ee" letter.
