I bought one of those funny looking power droids just for grins and saw that it also had the ability to repair other droids. Since I'm unable to have more than one droid out at a time how would that work? Can some professions have multiple droids out?

I think the only profession would be the Droid Engenier. But i'm not sure.

But it would be similar to the Creature Handler, who can have more than one pet out.

i know droid engineer cant pull more than 1 droid out at a time.some one once told me thatcreature handlers could pull multible droids outs at once but was nerfed awhile back.

You can have it repair someone else's droid, I believe.

I support removing combat classes if keeping them in results in a "dumbed down" game

You cannot have more than one droid out at a time. Power and Repair droids are so you can power or repair someone else's droid.

You target the other's droid and give your droid the command to fix it or charge it.

You can have a Structure Maintenance droid "out" doing it's maintenance runs and still are able to call any one of your other droids, but that is only because the structure maint droid isn't really "out" once he's gone off to do his run. (The "run" taking x amount of time depending on how far it has to "travel" and how many structures it is maintenancing before it "returns".) Once you've sent it out, itactually goes back into your datapad while it's "away" so this enables you to call other droids (crafting, combat, etc.) while it's gone.

Heh. That was a bug. Lucas will fix it after the combat upgrade and in the next release of the DVD boxed set. 3PO will be "re-classified" as a Structure Maintenance Droid instead of a Protocol Droid.
