Hi
A friend of mine showed me a lightsaber crafting tool with 0.00 effectiveness yesterday - there is another stat on it saying 20 critical success... does anyone know what this is?
I'm guessing that critical successes always happen with this tool (well up to 20 times) and that they are better than amazing successes - am i right?

Critical success is devspeak for amazing success. Open up the .tre files and see for yourself.
A lot of people have confused a critical success for the random bug that lets you go slightly beyond the normal experimentation / resource cap, but they're wrong.

In what phase is this thing available?
Is it for assembly or experimenting or both ?

that is not true, critical success is in game and allows you to exceed to resource caps during experimentation.
this has beenproved/achieved by 2 diffrent armorsmiths on intrepid, they broke the caps on stun layers several times.
since you are an armorsmith yourself you probably know that is is pretty impossible to get 44% stun on armor, but thats exactly what happened on intrepid.
there are several armor items available with 44% stun protection. you can come and scheck for yourself if you lilke.
critcal access allows you to make an item better then the used resources actually allow.
this is ment to happen very rare.
i dont care whats in the tre files since that is something what our client shows to us.
i just can assume that a critical access is shown to crafters as amazing success. thats why it is coded as amazing success in the tre files.
how did he get this btw?

I think it is phase 2 crafting quest reward. But the number of people who can get it is gated. Most people who do the quest get nothing from what I understand, a few get a Lightsaber crafting tool with 5 "amazing success" charges on it (dont use this to make crystal packs, or anything but a gen 4 lightsaber.. it would be such a waste), and the person who turns in the most sith resorces for that time period gets the lightsaber crafting tool with 20 charges on it. This is just what I have read, I havent done the quest myself.

Seeing as how Ittov's arguement is backed up by actual game files that anyone can go look at, and yours is backed up by the work of some guy on some server, I think I know what I'd say is more likely.

Its the reward for turning in most items in the crafting quest in phase II and III. Enkidu and Myself have the 2 so far on Eclipse.
