ALRIGHT! Everyone knows its a pain getting 5200 FP to get from the present faction to the other. This is the guide to get from one faction to another in 5 minutes.
Step 1) Go Special Forces, and delegate ALL your faction to a friend or some random n00b
Step 2) Ask your faction recruiter to leave the faction (Please note you will Lose all FP for that faction, and you will lose and and all skill points you have for your faction pilot profession.
Step 3) As you are flagged as dropping from the faction, head over to Mos Espa (Or any of the Rebel Starting cities)
Step 4) Find the Alliance Pilot trainner in the Mos Espa cantina. After you go to civilian, talk to the recruiter and ask to become a pilot. This will allow you to become an Imperial/Rebel On Leave. You MUST ask for your ship NOW from the recuiter, if not she/he will NOT give you one untill you get 200 FP.
Step 5) Go Combatant and start faction farming or PvPing or running missions in order to get 5200 FP. Its much easier if you are a faction member, oppose to getting it as a neutral.
**You Must have a JTL enabled account

Or, for the rich people with no patience, you can buy it from someone who sells it.

It'll work, but wouldn't there be a conflict in programming there? NPCs are designed to attack you if your faction with them is too low, but rebels aren't supposed to attack you if you're in the rebel faction. Something weird might happen.

Ok, I have tested this with 3 characters which i own, all from Imperial to Rebel. 1 of the chars i forgot to pick up the ship when i went rebel pilot, meaning i couldnt get a ship until i made 200 rebel FP. This will work for going either way (Imp to rebel or rebel to imp). There are no problems with NPC because you are still flagged as an Opposing Faction Combatant.

I tried this from going from rebel to imperial (and a mate did as well... but cant vouch for him following your instructions), but unfortunatly it didnt work.
The imperial officer in charge of pilot training simply said "Arent you on our wanted list"
Ah well paid the difference to a smuggler so all sorted now anyway
Cheers for tip though (might just be a problem from going reb-imp not other way round)

Same here. Going Reb to Imp, the Imperial trainer wouldn't talk to me with negative faction. Sounds like a bug.
