Thread: Our Inventory Needs a recycle bin

I'm tired of accidentally deleting stuff. It doesn't need to be big or anything, Maybe 10 items or so. I'm just getting tired of accidentally deleting things I want. Like when you get crummy loot and accidentally click the wrong thing trying to delete it. Here is what I mean:

1) first time, deleted a 923 max damage LVA because when it was sliced, it turn white instead of staying yellow. So next Nightsister I looted, I thought I looted a "white" lance and deleted it. Only to realize what I actually looted, was sorted somewhere else in my inventory and the 923 LVA was the last thing listed. Granted I should have double checked but when you have to delete 100 items a day that you loot, well, you know what I mean

2) Deleted a 350 max damage krayt scout blaster - again, was going through deleting useless loot, except I accidentally hit a macro on my keyboard that switched to my scout blaster, some how in the process between selecting and deleting, it highlighted the scout blaster, right when I hit the delete on another items, Anyway, it popped up "are you sure you want to delete scout blaster" and I hit yes

3) Also, have accidentally deleted weapons from the toolbar when you have weapon switching macros running. This was back when you had no delays, I went to delete a vehicle off my toolbar and instead it deleted a weapon that it just has switched to. That happened twice.

4)When I was a noob I accidentally deleted my whole back back because I was trying to equip it or something and hit delete instead of equip. That sucked, had like 40 items in it.

But anyway, have accidentally deleted some other stuff too over time and granted, should be more cautious and read the confirmation box, and that is what csr's will tell you too but sometimes you may be deleting 40 things from your inventory at once (like after killing a bunch of thugs or after lootking a bunch of useless leathers, clasps, shards, layers, etc) and you may accidentally hit something else in the process

oh, i definitely hear ya.. i've never deleted anything that major like your stuff, but it's major to me.. like whatever my main weapon is.. for me the main delete problem is when you're deleting tons of crap and everything scrolls up or down one line in your inventory, so the next item you delete is above what you really want to delete.

the only thing i can suggest (i doubt a recycle bin will ever be implemented) is keep a cargo pocket or satchel labelled "to delete", and move everything there.. then when you are deleting stuff, you can open it and see everything to be deleted before doing tons of right-click/delete/ok's.. unfortunately that means a bit of extra clicking to move it all..

actually what i do is the reverse.. i make a loot satchel, and move stuff i want to keep there. the rest of my top level inventory i'm very familiar with so i know if i'm going to select the right item or not to delete

Go in to options and make sure you have the option to confirm delete's on. Then you will have to click once in two different locations to delete something. MUCH harder to accidentally delete something that way.

its on, I just don't always read the confirmation. Most of the problems arise when you switch items during a delete, like if a macro is running, you have queue'd up armor switches, etc.

It is easy to see this. Right click an item, get the radial menu, but don't click delete. now, switch items, weapons, etc. Now click delete, The confirmation will show the item you switched to, not the original item you right clicked on.

I remember when I had a pike macro running that would switch pikes every 2 seconds between 3 pikes, If that macro was running, I could try to delete anything I wanted in my inventory, but every time the confirmation box came up. it was trying to delete one of the pikes, not the item I brought up the radial on

Seems like it's just you not being careful, and not thinking about stuff before you do it. I don't think this is really worth dev attention.

I just tied this and he is correct. The radial menu switches to the item just equipped rather than the original item. Have you send in /bug reports? This may not be operating correctly, and it could be a bug..
