Ctrl O into the options screen and click on (I think its "sound") and turn the in game music all the way down.
Then open up your favorite music/Mp3 player whether that be Microsoft Media Player or Musicmatch. You can play any MP3's or CD's while you play the game.
This will allow you to still hear the sounds in the game while allowing you to listen to any music you want, whether that be the Star Wars Soundtracks or some kind of hard rock
Not sure if that is exactly what you were asking or not. If you were meaning to take files from the game and play them as background music I dont think this is possible. Or at least you would need to wait for a far better techie then me to respond.

I don't think this would work very well on my 512mb RAM. I get enough lag as it is.

I can't inderstand why all these music files are not in the game already, there's some great music in the tre files that to this day have never been heard ingame, WHY?
People complain about the lack of the starwars feeling and all this great stuff is just sitting there. It's scandalous!!
