Thread: Automatically qualify or Autoscrewed?!?

i'm silent n' surging and still no old man visit.
i went 'Silent' or is it 'Quiet' on hologrinding months ago. does that mean i have 1 profession remaining and automatically qualify for access to the village or does the new info from TH (The Path of the Jedi: Reckoning of Effort- http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=in_live&message.id=22192)about the Devs having raised the required professions from 5 to 8 put me at like 3 professions remaining thus being in group 2 or 3?!?
do i qualify now or am i waiting around for nothing? or do i have to be glowing and auto qualify? just whats going on here?

Ummm, I'm pretty sure you have to be glowing. There are guides to get glowing around here somewhere, so just take a look, glow a little& the old man will come. Good luck!

There is no auto qualify. Read the guide to going glowy and it will tell you what badges you need. Do the badges and you will be good to go.

Heres some excerpts from TH's post i mentioned that i'm talking about, see the Automatically qualify parts?
"The measure to determine how much credit you get in the new Jedi system for effort spent unlocking professions in the old system is determined by how many of the required “holo-professions” you have mastered.
Here is how the credit is calculated:
If you have… The credit you will receive is…
No professions remaining: 6 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
1 profession remaining: 5 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
2 professions remaining: 4 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
3 professions remaining: 3 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
4 professions remaining: 2 Force Sensitive branches will be granted
5 professions remaining: 1 Force Sensitive branch will be granted"
and
"If you have… You will be granted access to the village…
No professions remaining: Automatically qualify
1 profession remaining: Automatically qualify
2 professions remaining: Group 1
3 professions remaining: Group 2
4 professions remaining: Group 3
5 professions remaining: Group 4"
but with that change from 5 to 8 hidden professions thing the Devs did ("Initially with the old system, you had to unlock 5 hidden master boxes. As the number of Jedi increased on the servers, we increased the required number of hidden boxes" and "by default acquired the necessary 8 master boxes that unlocked their slot") i can not tell just how many Sensitive branches i have or what group i'm in to know what i have to do.

That whole group thing makes no sense to me. It looks like it contradicts everything they've said before it.
This is what I do know for sure. As of Publish 10, I was strong with the force(I think). It was the one below glowing, anyway. I had already mastered 12 professions(4 holos). I have no idea what group that puts me in but it doesn't matter. Just go out and get badges til you are glowing. Then you know you will be visited by the old man. Get 5 themepark badges, a couple hard POI badges(sarlaac, krayt, Fort Tusken, etc), a couple jedi POI badges. Once the old man visits, almost exactly 24 hours later, the sith come. THEN you can access the village. Forget the group thing. I dont think anyone understands it.
Forgot to add: Once you are glowing, the number of holo-professions you did before Publish 10 determine how many free branches of force skills you qualify for. There's no way to tell the exact number until you visit Paemos in the village. He tells you how many you get.I was lucky and got 4 free branches with only 12 profs. Some people mastered 20+ profs and only got 1 or 2 free branches.

yes i saw that post as well des. I did all the holocrons and mastered a total of 9 professions. But was not glowing. I did the badge thing as outlined in the forums and i was glowing. the old man visitedme a few days after i started glowing.I had already completed everything but the corvette before just thru my natural game play.
However when i got to aurillia i had only unlocked 2 of the 6 branches. Based on what the devs posted I should have already completed all 6 branches. And I should have been given automatic entry to the city.
Why did they place that post if they are not honoring it?

You won't know how many of the required8 you did until you get to the village and you get your unlocks. If you weren't granted access automatically (been visited already), it's probably a good guess that you weren't one professionaway.
If you did4 holocrons, that means it is possible that you have4 more professions that you would have had to master under the old system.
Once the devs changed the requirements under the old system from 5 required professions to 8, you got 4 silent professions instead of 1. Holocrons went silent after 4 of the required professions were mastered. For now, focus on glowing and quests. You'll likely have at least 2 branch unlocks but probably not more than 4.

That's because you have to be at "inner glow" to receive a visit, not "surging".

The only people who automatically qualify for entrence to the village/old man are s'possedly those who unlocked between Pub 9 & 10. I went silent months ago too...then they secretly up'd the requirements from 5 random Master boxes to 8. This got me a paltry 3 branches instead of the 5 I was expecting.

You must be at "Inner Glow" before the Old Man will visit you. Once you get to inner glow the Old Man should come and visit you within 72 hours.
You will also find you'll have a better chance getting answers about Force Sensitivity and Jedi if you post in the correct forum. This forum is only for game guides.
