I love the games where you have a puzzle to figure out in order to progress. SOE has put some of this in the game but for the most part it is kill this, loot that, give loot to bob, mission over. The first act of the COA had a message that had to be decoded. That was hard but fun. We need more missions like that. But have a pool of missions so that it is not the same one over and over. For example,

- You go to an NPC who tells you there is a cave that is locked that has treasure in it. He has a map and a clue but cannot go due to an injury. You have to go and figure out the way in.

- another player goes to the same guy and gets a different mission. The other player has to go to a ship crash site and recover a data recorder, but must cipher the unlock code inorder to open the computer room.

and so on. Not much too it. just a little coding is needed as most of the stuff is already in the game. I could write dozens of senarios for missions.

But, then, that would require people to use their brains. Many here can't even spell, much less decode a puzzle. I can just hear there whining stemming from that.

Okay, okay, joking aside, I think that's an awesome idea!!

Yes! This is good. It's the kinda thing that would add some needed variety to this game's mission system.

The system would need randomization. They could even have you find a lost item and tell you a NPC type that has it on them, and to prevent people NOT on that part of the quest from looting you can have those who find the item automatically discard the item with a notice of something like this. "You found a gold platted clasp, but discard it because you have no use for it"

Infact just redoing some of the missions now to add that in would stop people from going straight to the item getting it and bringing it back. Because you could even give clues to the NPC type (which is also randomized), but have someone who can help tell you the NPC if you find him/her.
