Thread: Why cant I copy text?

I set my chat copy binding to Shift+Control+C but it wont let me copy. I'm trying to do some lists which will take far to long to do by manually typing. can someone help me sort this out?

Copying and pasting in SWG works fine for me, except i use CTRL+N for copy and CTRL+B for paste, make sure your text you're coyping really is selected, so your typer is not elsewhere.

i tried that rebinding, no luck though... whenever i try to copy something, it moves the typing cursor (blinking line thing?) to the chat dialog box. Im trying to copy out of my IG emails.


Blah! so frustrating!

Remember being told something about mails and other stuff being stored as images rather than text files so you can't copy and paste them.

Or I might just be playing silly buggers.

Now, this reply is really way too simple, but it is probably exactly what you are doing wrong...


If you have set your hot key to "Shift+Control+c" ingame, butare pressing it in the order of "Ctrl+Shift+c" (which makes sense because the Ctrl button is the first the hand comes to) then that will cause your problem, rebind it to Ctrl+Shift+c and you should be fine...unfortunately, the order does matter...


If that doesn't work, then maybe you have your OS set to not use those types of shortcuts from applications...

you can not copy and paste from emails as you read ...you need to either click reply or forward and then highlight the text for this to work.

oh and i bound my copy to ctrl+x and paste to ctrl+f for whatever thats worth.

You can only copy text from input fields in SWG. That means you can't copy text from an email because you can't type IN an email. You can't copy text from a chat box because you can't type IN the chat box. You CAN copy text from the command line below the chat box because you CAN type text in there. Or from an email you are sending (or forwarding, but that's a mess) or from a macro that you are INPUTTING.


I personally use macros for text storage. You can edit the macros and then copy the text - because you can type into a macro when you are editing it! I also use the '-' on a blank like to represent a blank line since the macro stuff deletes blank lines.

I do like the macro idea, myself I use my notepad for form letters and stuff I send out to hunters and customers.
