Thread: Is there a way to make Combat Damage Numbers more prominent?

I've been messing around with my UI for over a year trying to find the best way to display the Combat Damage Numbers, over others and my character, but I can't seem to find the best way.

It seems the numbers are often obscured by the location hit messages, like +Body Hit+ and +Head Hit+ and it renders the numbers unreadable.

I've tried setting the combat numbers size to maximum from Options > Combat, this helps but I still cant make them out when a target is being hit by other members of my group. Also, I've increased the text size, but then the location hit messages just get larger as well and compound the issue.

Is there any combination of options that will allow me to get a better view of the actual damage a target is being hit with as the combat tab only reports initial damage done, and doesn't take into account armour and resistances, but the Combat Damage Numbers that hover above a target do.

If there isn't a way of doing this, then I have a few suggestions for modifying the client to help.

I'd be happy if there was an option to just turn off the Location Hit messages as they are colour coded to givean indication of what area is hit... although you wouldn't be able to differentiate arm hits from chest hits, I don't think that would be of too much concern.

Either that, or add the actual damage to the Combat Spam... for example:

You use Stopping Shot on a dwarf nuna and hit the Body for 2321 Damage, a nuna takes 2267 Damage!

So, any ideas on how I might be able to resolve this in the short term?

yes there is

in the options(ctrl + o) there is an option(cantremember which tab) that controls the size of the dmg numbers, you can make them bigger or smaller then the natural numbers you get when you install, but i bet you want to make them bigger

Yeah, as I said, done that, but they get covered up by the location hit spam...

I have damage in my combat spam ( that sounds odd to me)

What i did was i pulled the combat chat tab away from the others so combat chat is always visible.

Not sure if that makes a difference though.

There is no way to do it.

The problems is that the numbers don't scale with distance. Close to the target, like within 5m, it looks normal because the floaty guages it's distance off the target, not off your distance from it.

Thats not what I'm talking about. What I need is the ability to see the damage numbers that float up over a MoB's head. The damage you see in the combat tab is not what you are hittng the MoB for.

It may say:

You use Stopping Shot on an Ancient Krayt Dragoni for 2045 Damage!

But the number floating up over the head of the krayt will be something like "-30" as the combat spam tabdoes not report actual damage, but the initial hit before armour and resistances are taken into account.

The problem I'm having is that very often you cant make out these numbers as they are obscured by +Body Hit+ and +Leg Hit+ and so on.

Thanks for confirming that there is no way to do this, I was worried that I'd missed something, and like I say, I've been trying to find a way around this for well over a year. I think I'll /bug this in game.
