I wasnt sure which forum to post this in, and this idea might have already been discussed and discarded but i think if it hasnt, it will make the bounty hunter profession a hellova lot more fun.
Now im sure we've all come across people who have annoyed us, and we, being either weaker, or they not accepting a duel, have been able to do nothing but stand back and take the crap they give us. The solution is contract killing.
If we set up a system, where you go to a BH mission terminal, and submit a mission. You give your name, the name of the person you want killed, a discription of what theyve done, and if you want them to know it was you or not who sent the bounty hunter. Then you put in the price on their head, obviously the more money offered, the more chance of a bh wanting to do the killing.
This way, there is more to the bounty hunter than just killing jedi, or npc's. They'd have to use a tracking system similar to the jedi, as i can think of no other way to do so atm.I think it would put a great spin on bh, because by killing people, it doesnt really do much to them, do a bit of damage to equipment, but its just a great way to taste revenge, instead of having to do the dirty work yourself. And they might never know who did it to them if you remain nameless.

no
this could cause griefing way too easily, and who/what would decidie whether the bounty was real or good enough?

Im not sure about contract killings... the airplane ticket price is a waste and usually if the person survives they /report you.

Its a good idea, but impossbile to implement without a lot of time and effort to invent a system that will actually work. Just today a newb (newb A)challenged me to a friendly duel with the intetion of killing me. So i defeat him easily, heal him, he gets back up starts shooting again, incapp him again, and tell him to stop. 3 minutes later he challenges a brand new person (came into the game 10 min before)(newb B)that i was talking to, i try to tell thenewb Bdont do it, but he ended up accepting his challenge. Ironically the new guy starts to win, and me being the nice guy heals newb A, while warning him if he loses he will die, but instead he keeps on attacking newb B even though he /peace with the evil newb A. In the end neither one, but, there must be a way to stop pople like newbA from doin this, he wouldnt accept my challenge (he knew i can and would kill him for his unfair ploys).

I think it is a very good idea. No one says that the bounty hunter missions have to be taken. And more than one bounty hunter can take the mission also. If it operated just like jedi that would be an awesome system and would really add a spin to the game. Perhaps to delay griefing you can only put up a bounty on a person once a week.

Well heres some food for thought.......when we officially launch our PvP division, we will be accepting requests for screenshots of deathblows of any character on our server! (Chilastra). We will of course take into mind the PvP rating and difficulty of getting the player into a duel. Well its gonna be fun

This has been discussed many times but so far no one has found a way to eliminate griefing from the design. Not only that, but the consensual PvP issue complicates things. If I do not want PvP then there should be no way for a bounty to be placed on me.
Even limiting the number of bounties on a person to one a week, and no other bounties can be placed on them, that is still once a week that player is being hunted when they do not wish to be hunted and possibly hunted only because someone randomly chose them.
High bounty prices are not a limit as well. When someone can earn 30,000 credits a mission or a million credits in a buff session, then the bounty would have to be high and then bounties would be so rare that it would not be viable to code.
=====================================================================================
The original idea I heard proposed long ago during beta was to have special high risk - high pay missions. If you failed to accomplish the mission then you has a bounty placed on your head. Thus, the players chose to take the risk, the bounty was automatically assigned by the system and not the players, and the bounty reward was basically the amount of the mission payout the player failed.

maybe they should make it so a person can only make someone a "mark" if he or she was previously killed by that person in pvp. this way they can get revenge and not have a bh attack someone who has no interest in pvp.

May be onto something there, of course there are still downfalls I'm sure like perhaps taking a dive in a duel on purpose. But yes they should have specific set requirments when entering ones player name into a BH terminal, perhaps this being one of them. And if all requirements are not met then a message should display like... "You have no cause to perform such an action" or blah blah blah.
For the time being I would say no to this idea simply because there are too many loose ends that need to be resolved. However I would love to see this implemented into the game sooner or later. It would definately make me want to pick up Bounty Hunter once again. Another idea though would be to limit the mission to only one person taking up the mission. So the mission would only display on one person's screen at a time. It would keep from having an unnecessary death squad hunting a Master Marksman. But this would give a great incentive for people to go through mastering BH. Perhaps even set the option to take on general player missions to be rewarded as the Master skill box.
Just cause the average player cannot think of a way to make this system work, doesn't mean other can't. They would simply have to start with the basics of how the Jedi BH missions work, and make adjustments accordingly. Hope to see this in the future, even if it is the very very far future.
