Thread: is armor worth it?
I was given a set of bone armor and I used to for some time. When I was in the med center I noticed my pool points were much lower than they should have been. I found out that the encumbrance takes away pool points from your HAM. Since it appeared to me that the armor wasn't doing much good I decided to take it off. I would rather have the pool points so my special moves wont cost as much and I can regen faster. Just recently I was given some marbiri (however it's spelled) armor, the chest plate and leggings. The encumbrance for the chest plate was 75health and around 11 action and mind. I haven'tusedthose armor piecesyet becauseI don't think the protection rates were very good. My question for all you armor wearing vets: "Is armor worth purchasing and losing the pool points due to encumbrance?" I would like to purchase armor in the future but only if the encumbrance is low or if it can protect me very well. Somebody was selling chitin armor and the encumbrance was H-250 A-250 M-250. It protected about 66% of damage if I remeber correctly.
Does anyone know of any great armor with low encumbrance or an armorsmith who can make great armor? I'm gonna be going up the slicing line soon and I'm planning on slicing my armor in hopes to make it better.
Put it this way, I was using bone armor saturday and getting my butt kicked by the little things (Gorgs, Keetles, etc) I couldnt even do destroy missions. I found an armorsmith outside of Bestine and he had some great stuff, but he told me bone armor didnt defend me from melee. I had no idea. So I spent a whole day doing delivery missions and bought a Tantel armor from him, And NOW they barely scratch me, im taking on 5-6 at a time. Hope this answers your question.
Oh and now im making 4-5k an hour doing those destroy missions
Armor is worth it when used correctly... Like bone armor doesn't do ANYTHING against melee so early game its probably not worth much. Keep what the armor defends and the encurmberances in mind when choosing armor.

As an armor crafter myself, just pay careful attention to the statistics of the armor... Resistances, Vulnerabilities, Encumbrance....etc.
There is WONDERFUL armor, then there is also armor that makes you look like you're wearinga red silk dress in a bull arena... Look at what you buy carefully... try not to let the cost of the item determine it's quality/value for you... READ THE STATS!!!
If you happen to be on INTREPID I'll help you where I can... send me an email....
As a master fencer and master swords, I can equip battle armor, but it seemed my health dropped significantly faster than when I was unarmored and using Improved COB.
Not saying armor isn't viable, but it feels like you need to have medic with a template that relies on armor for protection. I have no medic skills and I do just fine.
