The sectioned-off battlefields have been deactivated while they're being revamped. There's no ETA on when that will be completed, but I'd venture a guess we'll know more by time the GCW revamp comes around.

In the meanwhile, if you're looking for PvP, simply declare your faction affiliation at any of your faction's recruitersand hit the circuit of major cities... Coronet, Theed, Bestine, even Anchorhead, or visit some opposing faction player cities that have bases. Killing off the NPCs around the bases will usually bring some resistance if there are players around watching you do it.

If you're going to be going into PvP, regardless of your template, be prepared to lose a lot until you figure out what you're doing. PvP tactics and PvE tactics differ immensely. And if you run into a griefing trashtalker, just blow it off. Not everyone is like that and you'll find a lot more positive PvP encounters than negative ones.

Hope that helps!

When you're PVPing, hit bases quietly. Keep information of the assault within a close group, and do not tell anyone you can't trust 100% completely. Otherwise, there's a big chance you'll be hit with very heavy resistance, and sent home packing.

I really don't want to choose a faction, I am a happy little neutral tailor but the Devs have said beefing up your faction points is the best way to prepare for JTL. I don't intend on buying it but I don't want to miss out on potential changes that take place on the ground such as Factional uniforms and new schematics. So my question is,How do I decide which side to choose? Are there any advantages to choosing one or the other? I am assuming there will be morerebs so possible a higher demand for Imp items?

Well, what are your friends? Go by what you like, not what might be needed more. If you are non human the faction perks cost alot more if you are IMP. On the other hand, IMPs can buy an At-St. I hope this hepls, atleast give you something to factor in.

Stay neutral. Make friends on both sides of the fence. If there are any schematics, then you'll just have to buy them from your friends. If you don't want to pick a side, then don't.

It was my understanding that when the devs said build up faction, it was for potential factional ships or ship components. Especially in light of recent comments that there would be NO ground game content in JTL. Though, if they don't provide rebel flight helmets, as well as more flight suits in general, I could see there being a mutiny.

Play the game the way you want to. Always been my belief...
And yes, this "stay neutral" diatribe did just come from a very out-spoken supporter for the Rebellion.

IF you want to go to a faction, there are a couple things to consider. First is how much you roleplay. If you have a defined character concept in your head, it could be that they really would only join one faction or the other, given the the chance.

If roleplaying and character concepts aren't really your thing, go with the faction which contains most of your friends. If you don't have any or many factioned friends, go with which one has the most fun people in your experience. For instance, on Eclipse, almost all Rebels are whiny, grammatically incompetent 12 year olds, while at least a FEW Imperials (if not all) are intelligent and fun. Lo and behold, I play Imperial.

But you shouldn't really be going to a faction just on the strength of JTL. There are probably plenty of workarounds for crafters, and I'm sure the faction points comment the devs made has more to do with Imperial and Rebel pilots than the shipwrights. The GCW is a PvP playground; unless you're interested in PvPing, or exclusively supporting one half of PvPers (for roleplaying reasons), there is no reason to join up.
