I have some questions:

1) I found 2 pieces of a rebel transmission (2/4 and 3/4) what do i do when i find all 4? what do i get?

2) I found a locked container, what do i do with it?

3) I traded this tailor for some clothes last nite, and as i was sitting down a few mintues later, my clothes dissapeared! I was naked, i went to find the tailor but she had already disconnected. My clothes were no where to be found on the floor or anything. Will they be there when i log back in? (i didn thave time to) Or are they gone for ever?

Thanks

1) When you have al 4 discs in your inventory (not your bank or backpack), put your mouse over one of the discs and choose the assemble option from the radial menu (I don't remember what the option is called, but it'll be the obvious choice to assemble all four discs into a single complete message). After assembling the message, go to a faction recruiter of your choice (Rebel or Imperial) and drag the disc onto the recruiter - You'll get some money and 500 faction points as a reward.

2) Give the locked container to some aspiring smuggler - they get slicing experience for unlocking containers. You can ask for the container and its now accessible contents back, but thejunk inside makes that melon and CDEF pistol you started the game with look awsome in comparison.

3) It's a bug. you still have your clothes, everyone else sees you in your new clothes. When you log back in things should appear fine to you as well. For future reference, if it happens again (and sometimes does when you put things in your inventory and cross a server boundry (usually hopping a shuttle, but it occasionally happens - to me when I get stuff out of my house if vanishes about half way back to town), just log out for about 15 to 20 minutes and then relaunch the game. If you equip something and that happens, don't unequip it and equip something in its place, or there's a chance you'll loose the item you had equipped when it vanished by being overwritten by the most recently equipped item in the database.

It depends on the discs.....Encoded Rebel\Imperial Transmissions give you Faction points, but the ones entitles with mearly Rebel\Imperial Transmissions only give you money.....at least thats the way I understood it.

The ones that gave 500 faction points where act 1 disk and they no longer spawn.

The other disks give you about 1-2k when you turn the full set over.

Hey all. I'm signed back up to SWG for a 3rd time. This time, I'm pursuing the Ranger profession.

I've read through the stickies and absorbed that information but still have 3 questions that I couldn't find answers to:

1) What species are better suited to be rangers? Which are worse?

2) What starting stats are recommended for a Ranger/Rifleman? Heavy mind? Low Health?

3) Are there any good sites that outline getting started as a ranger? Key layout suggestions, hot key suggestions, hunting and trapping tips/ etc. Just a good old fashion, "this is how you get started as a newbie" kinda thing.

Thanks!

Bothans and Trandoshans have natural "hunting" bonuses..
as for species that arent suited for hunting, there are none... its more how you play the game.
For example, im a zabrak.. and a good friend was a mon cal.. we were both very successful rangers.

For a Ranger/ Rifleman, balance heavily on your mind... make sure you have high secondary mind stats.

As for ranger website info, there are a few of them, but generally we are the best source of information

Trandoshans get a bonus to Harvesting, Bothans get a bonus to camo (?), and Wookiees get a bonus to Trapping. There are no other species specific Ranger/Scout bonuses thatI am aware of. You may want to take into account what you combat prof is, which I can see if Rifles, so I will continue my answer there.

Heavy mind, but how depends on whether or not you are going to be buffed the whole time. I also recommend Ahrissa (food)and Vasarian Brandy to buff you mind stats. I am a leezard Rifleman with a Doctor alt, so I run buffed the entire time I am in combat, and I always have a stomach full of Ahrissa and Brandy. My stats are maxed mind with the rest in action since leezards have high low-end stats in the heath categories.

Not sure, but I am sure the peeps will be happy to give you advice in this thread...they love to share their experiences .

Thanks!

oh... Vasarian Brandy (drink) and Canape (food) will be essential on your journeys as well. They really help the mind regen and stay full

Welcome. And what AgonThalia and Calculus_Entropy posted above covers everything I could think of.

Great info, thanks all. Since I already have a Bothan from my last attempt at SWG that has partially worked up the Rifle tree and some in scouting, I may just stick with him then. Thanks again!

Hmmmm... tips for being a Ranger. Read Freds Lairs 101. That has some great must-know info, as well as the other stickied threads. A very basic macro I use for harvesting is:

/harvest meat;
/loot all;

This way I don't miss out on any potential loot and animal has. I also use it to loot NPCs though I get some kind of system message that scolds me for trying to skin sentients. Make one of those for each resource type.

There are a ton of good ideas I could go over, but they are covered much more thoghroughly (pros and cons) in the stickied threads!

Essential Ranger Info:

Read Fred Skinner's posts about hunting

Read JBMat's posts about tactics

(Never trust a bootless leezard)

If you have a question, ask.. we all generally play nice.
