Hi all,
Newbie here. Hope this is posted in the correct place.
Just picked up a copy of SWG and am enjoying what I've seen so far. However, I seem to be unable to find how to select a starting planet and city. I always default to Tatooine. When I select 'use' at the travel terminal, it just jumps to a loading screen and Tatooine here I come.
I'm assuming I must be missing something fairly obvious and would welcome any assistance.

No, you're not missing anything. You used to be able to pick which planet and city you wanted to start in, but they changed that a few months ago. Everyone starts on Tatooine in Mos Eisley now.

As far as I'm aware, around the time SOE launched the free trials for SWG they disabled the ability to pick your starting planet.
I can't be sure, but I remember reading somewhere that this was probably down to the low amount of players now signing up for SWG. Seems to make sense, put all the newbies into a single town with each other the game looks alot bigger than it actually is.
Incidentally, when I started SWG last january I started in Mos Espa, and it was practically a ghost town as was most of tatooine.
As much as I appreciate that its a bit of a let down being unable to choose your starting town, trust me when I say you're probably better off for it. If you play a medic profession it means you have people to heal, as a crafter you have people to sell to, if you're a combat prof you have things to buy from the bazaar.
Eitherway, its a small matter of moving town once you've loaded into the game - a few hundred credits for the shuttle, or a 20 minute walk.

A long time ago, in a patch far far away, you were allowed to choose your starting planet.
Then they added 'new player content', therefore inter alia you cannot choose your starting planet and you have this bloody annoying green helper droid that CAN NOT DIE no matter how many times you delete it.. the bugger keeps on coming back (on one of my new accounts).

Hah, I noticed that too when I started up my alt. Kinda bugged me..I wanted to start on Corellia so I'd be only one jump away from my town (on Dantooine). Then it loaded up Mos Eisley and I was a bit peeved...
Oh well, just bumping up my post count
