Thread: don't train in FS survival without nov scout or its useless

ok i have trained in the fs survival tree


i can't harvest creatures even though i have a mod of +5 creature harvest (main reason i chose this tree)



btw i don't have nov scout which shouldnt matter i would think.

Well, basically, I think the FS skill lines are meant to enhance already existing professions, not replace them.


I mean, what's the point of picking up scout for the harvesting capabilities when you can get that for 1 skill point?

Basically, the only thing in survival that's a passive mod is terrain negotiation - You still have the mod for creature havesting, but you dont actually learn that skill (gain the command) until you have novice scout. It goes the same for the healing line etc... you get the skill to heal damage (/healdamage) at novice medic, and the FS tree gives bonuses to what that command/skill does.

ok but go look at the nov scout box.....only abilities it has is to craft camp and traps..


the only mods it has are the ones that i already have with the fs survival tree.



if thats the case then they should change the nov boxes to reflect the actual abilities ( /harvest, /heal, etc.) so people like me don't waste over a 1 mil in FS xp training for nothing.

what you are asking for is the ability to spend 1 skillpoint to do what others need to spend 15 skillpoints minimum to do. It's unfortunate that you didn't learn more about the skills you purchased beforehand, but if you got the ability to harvest for 1 skillpoint, then I would be extremely upset as a ranger. And who's 15 bucks a month is worth more, yours or mine?

no where on the ctl S skill tree window does it say that..... you actually have to be trained in it to receive a system msg that says ability granted :harvest corpse.

missing my point still, i was looking on ctl S, comparing the nov scout box to the FS survival tree.if you notice there is no differences other then you get to "craft" camps and traps with nov scout.


don't be a tool, you know with ranger you get a huge increase in the amount of units you harvest compared to amount i would have withFS survival treehaving +5 creature harvest.


**edit** are you talking about yours or mine 15 bucks a month.


people are missing the point.

compare nov scout box abilities andmods (skill tree window) to the FS survival tree mods


you will see what im talking about.


and yes i agree it is dumb to have to spend only 1 point to get abilities that normally you have to get with a nov proffession box....but after checking the skill tree window i could not see anyadditional commandsthat nov scout gave that differed from the fs survival tree.


i guess i just wasted over 1 mill on +5 terrain neg....yay

well, now that I have logged in and checked I see what you mean. It is not clearly defined in either novice skillbox or the FS box. I could have sworn that Novice scout had a mention of the ability to harvest corpses, but it doesn't just says creature harvesting +15, but there is a blurb about novice scout being able to harvest resources from creatures in the hover description of the box.

Even still, you can buy lots of things in the game that give +XX to a skill that you can't use unless you have the skillbox to back it up.

The FS branches only modify existing skills, they do not give you an ability you do not already have through normal skills
