I've noticed that people tend to capitalize every race name, except for "human".
Does anyone have any idea why the other races need the uppercase treatment?

It's just that I see people talking about a "Wookiee doctor" and a "human doctor". Stuff like that.
And I noticed it also on the loading screen. (That wookiee in the red dress frightens me for some
reason...)

I guess they should not be capitalized since they refer to a race or planet? We don't capitalize earthling, but we do capitalizenames like Colombian or Moroccan when we refer to a person of a country. I always thought they should have given humans a distinct name. I mean are they really humans like us from Earth? Or is it coincidence they look like us (parallel evolution)....hehe

As someone who has been an editor in RL, it warms my heart to see a discussion of style on the boards. The general rule is that race and species names are not capitalized unless derived from a proper name. Thus we have black, white, and latino but African American and Asian American (at least here in the States). So the SWG races (or species as we would call them) should not be capitalized. Ah, but what of the sullustans who hail from the planet Sullust. Well, the dictionary lowercases earthling and martian so I think we can safely lowercase sullustan. While we're at it, professions are also not capitalized.
