I am in the Army and getting ready to PCS to korea for a year, have spent 3 at Fort Sill, OK. I really am hoping I can still connect from there but have no idea, does anyone know if I can get to my server from there, or has anyone played or play now from the Republic of Korea, any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off- Good work, redleg. I'm a former arty guy myself.

As to the actual question, I have a good friend in-game that I see all the time, and he's in Korea. So the answer is yes, it's possible. I don't know the specifics as to how connections are made and so on from over there, but I do play with another Army guy who lives there.

Of course, he had to build a PC once he got there to get online, but that's another kettle of fish.

yes you can connect from the Republic of Korea. I started playing SWG while assigned to Osan AFB in ROK. There is DSL available on base, and Korea itself has more high speed internet per capita than anywhere else in the world. You wont have an problems.

Depends on where you are.

We had high speed available in Yong San in some offices. Barely had dial up further north.

The Air Force has a lot better deal than the Army (wow, big shock there).

Good Luck in the land of the morning calm. And the first whiff of Korea getting off the plane will not be forgotten.

Thanks alot for the post guys I apprecate greatly, i will just hold tight and hope i can get connected. As for Korea itself I hear mixed things, and I hear its alot better if your single, which I am not so my guess is alot of gaming will be going on to avoid all the drinking(did too much of that in college anyways). I will more then likely be at Camp Casey as at the moment im assigned to DivArty and get a MLRS platoon as i just uprade my title from specialist too 2LT.

You'll be fine, there are no internet restrictions or firewalls that will prevent you from connecting to US serversin South Korea. They do have them in North Korea, butthats adifferent story.I have a brother in South Korea serving in the army and he connects fine with no problems. Good Luck!

Glad I'm not in the army, don't like travelling... even though I keep alternating from Ohio(good connection) and Canada(Free Health Care)... not saying why I travel to Canada.
