I'm sort of new to this game, been playing since JtL was released.
My question is as follows:
When I set the new values in stat migration, will the change happen slowly or do I have to see an image designer?
If it happens slowly, please state and example.
And if I am REQUIRED to see an image designer, is it an NPC or a player? How much will this cost if there is a cost? And where can I find one?
Sorry to be such a pain, but I need to know.
Thank you for your time.

You must use an image designer (player). Cost is set by the person and sorry but im not sure, other than theed, where any of the image designer tents are.

First off, the stat migration window specifcally tells you to see an image designer.
Second, there are no NPC image designers, only the trainers for that profession. You have to see a real one.
Third, it's up to the image designer on what to charge you for migrating your stats.
And last, go to Theed and walk to the salon. It's a large purple tent inbetween the hospital and the cantina. There are image designers there more often than not.

A lot of the confusion for new players comes from the fact that when you're sitting in the loading area waiting to pick a starting planet, the voice tells about stat migration.
It speaks of the "slow process" that used to take about 3 days.
This was the original system and I guess they never got around to changing that part of the game.
A few months ago they changed it so that only player image designers can migrate your stats.
Not only that but it must be done in a salon in one of the NPC cities that have them.
They recently changed the timers on it, tho. It had been 10 minutes. Now it's considerably less.
I know for sure there are salons in Coronet, Theed, Bestine, and Vreni Island.
Doa /find salon to get the waypoint of the one closest to you.

I've had really good experiences with ID's. Every time i've migrated stats or changed something or other the ID has been nice and chatty
And more often than not given me free stuff
/salute all you ID's

lol if your talkin about the manual that comes with the game then yes , its not even talking about the same game! But to be honest this is pretty much true of most mmorpg's. They change so fast that if you wanted to produce an accurate manual you would be doing a new load every few weeks.

I'll give you that, but the online manual is also pretty whacked out. And I'm sure some would argue that some changes aren't coming fast enough
