Thread: How about changing doc and ent buffs so they last through a logoff?

It's a pretty well known fact that in order to hunt successfully right now you have to have buffs. But the problem is, although they last for three or so hours, if you log off, you lose them instantly. This basically destroys any ability to log on and play for just a few minutes at a time. I ususally won't hunt unless I know I can do so for at least close to two hours, otherwise I feel like I have wasted money on buffs they I barely used. So I think it would be great if buffs lasted through logoffs, and if the countdown only went by while you were online. In orderto insure that doctors don't lose business, I wouldn't be averseto the idea of a small penalty to reduce buff times if you log off, say around a25% lossof the remaining time. This way people could get buffed and play for a few minutes, log off and come back later and play a few more minutes. Then they wouldn't have to track down a doctor, wait in line, and then commit a couple of hours to hunting every singletime.

Don't lose them if you log, just does not show in enhancements window. Another minor bug.

Believe they do.
PS you can check your character screen CTRL-C to make sure you still have them, but you won't know how much time is left

The buffs will not last the full duration if you log off. Basically your character will remain buffed as long as they still exist in the game world (i.e. are standing there LD).
Once your LD character is removed from the game world then you will lose the buffs. So that gives you maybe 5-15 minutes worth while you're logged off, any longer and it's back to the buff queue.

you are correct. although the above mentioned bug is iffy. sometimes the icons in the buff window will stay i.e. let you know how much time is left. sometimes it won't.
so basically, you can log off, come back 10 minutes later and still have your buffs, yeah

if you log right back on, u wont lose them. Wait 5, or ten minutes and they will be gone. Atleast that is my experience

Which is as it should be.
If buff duration was based solely on game time, & survived a log off, it would please a lot of people, yes.
But, & a big one, it would play into the hands of campers.
Imagine battling your way down the Geo Cave ... you get there, and 30 secs before you do, a fully buffed player also spawns - or 10 fully buffed players for that matter. At the moment it can be hard to find hi level content uncamped, but if players could keep their buffs despite logging campers would materialise at the bottom of every cave fully buffed whenever that content spawned. Granted the campers can spawn outside the cave, buff, then fight their way down, but at least that takes them 20 mins or so .. allowing buffs to survive a logging would make it too easy.
