Covert but really overt?
Here we go: I'm an overt imperial, I decide I want to become covert so I talk to the recruiter and tell him I want to be covert and he says it will take 1 hour. OK,1 hour passes, I get the message on screen that says my faction affiliation has been hidden from others. OK, I check my character sheet and it says I'm covert.
A few minutes later as I'm wandering around an overt rebel attacks me! I did not do any faction missions so I did not have a TEF and the TEF symbol was not on the screen next to my HAM bars. Everything says I'm covert but I was attacked by an overt rebel as if I were overt. This has happened a few times before and its really getting annoying. It seems as though the only way for me to return to covert status is to be killed and respawn.
This happen to anyone else? Anyone got any suggestions?

It's happened to me more than once. I only became covert after a DB from a PvP with a rebel. I think it may be a glitch from publish 6 as I haven't had this problem since last year.

Yeah.... this happened to me 3 times yesterday.... I know i successfully went covert because all my stormy uniform was removed then a few minutes later I was Overt again...... most anoying.

Thank you for letting me knowI'm not the only one this is happening to. Hopefully his problem will be addressed with a hot-fix or the mini patch later this month. Though I doubt it. 
But who knows. maybe we'll get lucky!

Just making sure that you saw this post.
I was recently told by a CSR while trying to discuss various issue that the developers are working on to fix the cause of this problem:
(Problem)
Overt player attempting to go covert again via the factional recruiter does not get the option to go covert, this leaves the Overt player stuck Overt until they die.
I was informed as a work around you simply need to submit an in game Ticket saying you need to have this fixed, I was assured that the actual fixing of an Overt player to Covert status is indeed one of the things done by the in game CSRs to fix the problem, and that it takes less then a minute for the CSR to do, and CSRs handle these situations many times every day.
So if your Stuck OVERT, send in a ticket. The fix the CSRs do is to is more then a simple switch to Covert, they fix a hiccup so that you should always have that recruiter option again from now on.
The actual bug causing this problem is being worked on.

Is it my misunderstanding, or did CSR Robyn's responce have absolutely nothing to do with the poters problem?
Robyn... This player has chosen the option from the recruiter to go Covert. He goes covert 1 hour later (by design, I guess) and is then attacked while Covert.
What, on Gods-green-earth does that problem have to do with a missing menu item on the recruiter?
See, this is why I don't use in-game CSR help. This is also why people feel justified to not ask for help, and use any exploitable bug to their advantage to ballance out the issues that have only a disadvantage.

My apologies CSR-Robyn, I did not see that post I should have looked harder. But the problem you describe is very different from mine because I do get the radial menu to go covert and I select it and the game tells me I'm covert after the 1 hour but I'm not really covert until I get killed by someone and respawn. But thanks for your suggestion.
Oh well. Guess I'll just submit an ingame ticket when ever I want to go covert and have the CSR do it for me instead of the recruiter.

Yes the same thing has happened to me, I had the menu option to go covert, selected it, an hour later it shows Im Covert on my character sheet, but as soon as I see a Imp, bam, I get attacked.

I have the same problem i was killed 3 times until i understand what is happening.
I dont like it cause i had some bioclothes and they decayd.
Now i can be covert for 5 min talc again to the recruiter wait 1 hour covert 5 min ....
Please guys help is needed ,fix this as fast a you can.

Hi ... yes, EXACTLY the same thing has been happening to me since March 2004 on Infinity server.
And, should any CSR read this, I am NOT talking about not having the radial option. I am talking about selecting the option to go covert, waiting one hour (or two, or twelve) and still being attacked as an overt by opposing faction players.
I have lost count of the number of times I have reported the bug and contacted CS. It is a MAJOR pain in the neck, and apparently NOTHING is being done about it.

ust enter this world of hurt. i tryed to go covert again now it tells me im not ocert but a declarid reble. whole new game guides need to be posted so we can keep up with all the changes. or am i judt missing all the post. gorath server (master fencer and glowee) marrager nela

I have had the same problem. I was overt Imperial for a while, andI selected to go covert from the recruiter and I got the message saying I was covert. Then I went to Cnet, saw a group of overt rebels who appeared normal to me, I didn't have a tef, etc- then all of the sudden I popped overt and they became red. Of course I was unbuffed and they made pretty short work of me.
