i know that the disks dont drop any more but if oyu can find a set of disks you can still get the badge.
my question is if your a rebel and have a imp set of disks can you turn it into a imp recruiter and get the badge?

Whatever set of disks you get, you need to turn them into the recruiter for your faction. The rebel recruiter will take either set and vice versa.

You will no longer get the badge for this. Yanked that yonks ago. You can still turn it in, and it'll give faction I believe, but I turned in a set I had kept for ages to get it on another alt toon like last year and it didn't work.

Wierd how they still give you Cries of Alderann points when you kill a NPC Imperial officer or trooper. What is the point of getting that when this quest is finished.

It was the whole point of the Cries of Alderaan storyline to begin with. The winning faction would receive bonus FP for winning the storyline. The losing side would pay a slightly lower cost for faction perks. Kind of balances out in the end though.
