Hello everyone,

I have seen this question answered on my board but I keep getting two different answers, so now I am coming to the experst for the right answer.

I have single crystals and double crystals, the doubles say "jedi crystal", the singles don't. I figured just for decoration but people keep telling me they are for lightsabers and to sell them fo a bunch of credits. Can someone please confirm that they are nothing special please.

Thanks a bunch

the single crystals are indeed used for lightsaber crafting.

I played the game for about 10 days now, and I think I understand and know most of the stuff. So I started thinkg about what proffessions to choose. I will be master carbineer / some artisan ... And that is the problem. I like all of the artisan professions. I talked to dozens of people to see pluses and minuses of each prof, and my selection got to armorsmith, shipwright and merchant.

I know that AS takes a lot of time and work to grind to master but in the end it pays up reeealy well.

SW isn't much of a profit but grinds very fast.

And merchant I don't understand quite. I mean, why would any artisan sell to merchant for lower prices when he can easly sell for full price to customer. Or with only Buissines III get vendor of his own. But anyhow, I heard that they can make most profit of any other prof, but I didn't met any Master Merchant so I don'tknow much details about it.

My future plan is to go for jedi (that's why I'm grinding for carbineer) and politician (own my city), so maybe some of above stated profs go well with my future ones?

I would really apriciate if someone could help me decide, by, maybe directly comparing those three profs by fun;customization-to-products/grind-time/profit and also how would they go with jedi/politician.

Thanks in advance

Merchant is usefull if youd like to run your own vendors/shop, it least thats all I use it for.

Don't think anyone sells stuff to a merchant who then sells it on.

There are people who buy stuff from lower priced crafter and re-sell for a profit though.

Ok thanks, but can someone please do that prof comparison (fun;customization-to-products/grind-time/profit)?

Well, I done some more 'research' and it turns out that I must have atleast 5-20mil of starting capital to get going with any artisan prof if I don't want to spend 3+ months grinding it...

Also they suggest going for plane char, eg. just fighter or artisan. But like I stated above I really like mixing, and focusing on only 1 char.

So could someone give me a final advice, becaues I'm really busting my head

The only thing I can suggest is.

Do a fighting profession. IE Carbineer/rifleman/pistoleer/bounty hunter e.t.c, unlock your jedi slot, make the new character an artisan/money-maker, then make your jedi whatever you want. IE Carbineer/rifleman/pistoleer/bounty hunter, or, Jedi.

its a hard balance but yes its very possible, how ever dont expect the char to be an ubercombat char....you should be able however to master a combat proff and an elite crafting proff on the same char with no problems

a good one to mix with a combat prof is droid eng. the reason being that de are needed in the death watch bunker to open the door to the forge and mixed with a combat prof makes you handy to have around!

however the choice of prof.......i would say go with what ever you fancy doing the most, yes some profs take longer to grind than others but if you master something and arnt happy with it, why bother? you would be far better doing something that interests you.

my advise.....do master artisan first, the grind is fairly easy, although the survey bit is kinda dull but i can do it in around 4 hours from novice to master. this will give you basic merchant skill, ie let you have a vendor, as well as crafting skills, including at master the vehicals (swoops etc) and survey skills. then decide which master skill you fancy, but for the time being use your survey skills to harvest some resources while you make some swoops to sell on your vendor to make some cash.

then take the time to at least start on a combat prof, again try a few before you pick maybe...i did master marksman first then chose later which i liked best. then you can alternate between hunting stuff and crafting when you fancy.

dont try and sit down and grind out a master crafting prof in one session, you will bore yourself to tears that way, better to learn what you can craft as you do it.

with one crafting and one combat char you should do ok in combat just dont expect to be much use in one on one combat, tho good in a group, combat medic may be another option worth thinking about?

a quick look at my char builder programme and you can get any master combat with any master crafting and still have points over.

i quite like the look of

artisan 4x32 (gives a vendor and resonable survey skills which can be boosted with food)

master droid eng (or any of the crafting profs)

master combat medic

novice pistols (as you will be over cl54 you can use a nice fg5 pistol)

have a look at www.bloodfin.org at the char builder programme there and have a play around

I didn't bother reading that post since I got a headache, but here's my take on Merchant.

Currently I have Advertising IV and Management IV. This gives me some cool signs, thousands of item slots on my vendors an the possibility to (advertising):

  • Make my vendors say something to potential buyers.

  • Put my vendors on the planetary map (CTRL + V).

  • Put my vendors on the overhead map (CTRL + M).

Also, I get the title "Propagandist" from Advertising IV, which is the coolest title in the game. Stalker is a close second, but it doesn't beat it.

For mixing professions, it's really better to choose one. Your combat template will be very little use and you'll likely miss out on a lot of stuff, if you spend all your points on Crafting/Merchant.

I guess I'll have to second the statement about unlocking Jedi.

You don't have to level your Jedi or spend points on it, other than 24 points in force sensitive skills (for padawan) and then you will have a secondary character slot on the same server, which you can then beef up as a crafter with GOOD capital from grinding millions on Dant to get your Force Sensitive skills.

My take

PS. I did this. My main is a Padawan Learner and my secondary character a sort-of-crafter (Creature Handler / BE, which gives some combat level and damage, though knockdown will own you.

Ok, thank you all for posting.

I chose to go for Master Carbineer and Master Artisan for now. I got Clone Armor and some wicked carbine yesterday, so I won't need to spend time of better equipment for some time. Also some chef hired me to mine him domesticated oats, and I found place with QL999 so I'm making about 100-200k a day.
When I get couple of mils, I'll see which elite artisan to go for, and when I make enough money to build and maintain city, I'll drop all unnececery skills and go for jedi/politician.
