Last night, I was kindly given a deed to a house. I double click on the deed to start the construction and before i had a chance to place it, i discover that it had already been placed...5 km away fromthe location i want.
Is there anyway that i can convert the house back into a deed so i can place it where i want it to go?

Please issue an ingame ticket, using the holocron, explaining the issue. This may be a new exploit or just some problem with the house/deed. If you have the deed, there should not be a house.
Ingame CSRs are the only ones that can deal with this though.

i don't have the deed. i just want to convert the house back into a deed so i can place it where i want it to go.
yeah, i should have put in a report, but i wasn't sure if it was a bug, or if it was me lol

Ok, maybe I misunderstood. You said you went to place it and found that it had already been placed?
If you need to redeed it, then just use the datapad to destroy it. As long as it shows all green and you have enough money to cover the redeed process, it will convert back to a deed.

ok thanks 
yeah, i should be a little clearer. i double clicked on the deed to get to the placement screen, but it bypassed that and ended up placing the house about 5 clicks from were i was standing. maybe i triple clicked by accident lol
so how much does it cost to redeed?

to redeed a house, you need to make sure it is at 100% condition, then it can be done

You must also have enough maintenance on the house to cover the redeeding cost. The ammount required will be on the pop-up that tells you whether you can redeed or not.
I have accidently placed structures in the wrong spot myself a couple of times. It's not really a bug, just a matter of clicking too many times.

Yes, pay FIRST some maintenance in the house terminal, and then destroythe house using 'Destroy Structure' also in the house terminal(check info, must be in green to get it redeed).
