I'm getting really pissed at these droid/flight comp problems.
I bought a flight comp and programmed it and tried to put it into my ship(A y-wing) and it didnt work. so i bought an astromech and some blank chips i programmed the chips. I tried to put the chips into my droid, but it says there isnt enough space on the droid or whatever. Can SOMEONE help me please?

Hmm...1st. Astromechs don't fit on A-wings, 2nd., not all all Astromechs can hold stuff.

Buy a flight computer for your A-Wing first off, because it can't use a droid. Second, make sure the R Unit you buy is Astromech certified and is at your current astromech certification level. Also, their datapads only hold about four of programs available at that level, so shield adjustment and reinforcement programs are the only ones that will fit.

I think people got confused by your "(A y-wing)". Droids are used on Y-wings, although I don't know if it can also take a Flight Computer.
To be used in ships, you have to have an R-series droid (R4, R3, or R2) with a data storage module. If you're just dragging the chips onto the droid, the game tries to put the chip item (not the program) into the droid's storage module, which it may or may not have. I suspect that's your problem.
Steps to program a droid or flight computer can be found here:
I think that was written before the interface change, but once you get into the programming UI, it's fairly straightforward.

#1 I hate when people 1 star for people asking questions.
On to your problem.
Allships other than x-wing, y-wing (reg and LP), and Z-95 headhunter use flight computers.
The chips are unnesisary from programing your droid with your programes now that the devs put in a programing screen for the droid and flight computers, save your unused ones for when you meet a pilot from another faction to swap programes. you can use any factions programes at any level as long as your droid/computer can hold it.
Astromechs these can not be anyR series droid in any shop. If you got a DE that you go to regulary ask him to make you a R5 droid with a data module in it. Dont get any other bells and wistles with it, it will be a terible waste of money cause you will have to replace this droid many times over the course of your piloting career. You will need to get a data module specific to your piloting level:
novice= level 1
x/x/x/1 = level 2
x/x/x/2 =level 3
etc, etc
After you deed the droid in the data pad bring up radial on the droid and it should say program it will bring up a screen with 2 windows one on the left and one on the right. On the left is your programs you know, on the right is whats loaded into droid. this is how you program your droid by selecting a program from the left and clicking the arrow to put it into the right screen in your droid.
After you program your droid and load him up into the ship there is one more thing that needs to be done. After you launch you need to hit Ctrl+A and hit the droid tab to look at the programes you just loaded, you can now use your droid programes in space.
hope this helps
