Just to let any noobs or those among us who may be less attentive, there is a growing segment of the so-called "Merchant" profession that are trying to take us all for a ride. I have noticed recently that too many weapons are being sold with certain power-ups (at full number of charges). Not that this is wrong in itself, but they are pricing the items based on the stats with the pups. So before you buy any weapons, scroll down and look for pups.
I just saw one so rediculous, I just have to post it:
Laser Rifle
Speed: 5.9
Max Damage: 459 (or 45? anyway)
80,000 credits
Now this weapon is not worth 80K in any galaxy at any time. But to make it worse, it had a pup with +100 max damage. So the actual stat was Max Damage 359.
This is not the only example I've seen, but a good one.

yep any1 can price how they see fit if they get any customers or not is their problem so you dont realy need to state the obvious any1 who would be able to aford that gun would know by then if it was worth the money or not.

And you are both missing a very obvious point. People are putting pups on to artificially bump up stats for sale. That is the point, and I am informing people about this. And as I said before, that was only one example. I have seen several people doing this in the last several weeks.

Yes, this is a very common thing to do to "add" a bit of extra flavor to the weapons you are selling. Sadly,it also adds the ingredient of "no trust" to the mercantile world. Always check things like condition, real damage and other stats before purchasing anything from vendors - and specially the bazaar.

The last cereal I bought just had an "NFL on Fox" radio broadcast schedule in it.
I feel cheated.
I'd have rather had some stickers so I could vandalize the napkin dispensers in the break room at work again! ![]()

it would be mean if there was no sign of a pup, but since there is any smart buyer can just walk away.

its as close to false advertisement as you can get.....i always check for a pup, and whenever i see that, unless they are one of the only "big name" crafters, i almost all the time create a boycott with my alts and maybe a few friends, just because its plainly a swindling act

It may be unscrupulous(sp?) and not something I would do (I never base the price on the powered-up stats) but it quite literally comes down to a case of "buyer beware."
All the data about the item is there and I always carefully inspect anything I'm about to drop a significant amount of money on.
Back in the early days of the game there was considerably less data.
Back in the early days of the game there was considerably less data.
You could make a small house and name it "Generic Guild Hall" and there would be NO way of knowing that you had been scammed until you actually tried to set it up.
It was the same way with Unlocked Containers. I always added a disclaimer to any of them that I sold stating that I had no way of knowing if the container had been sliced or not.
IMO, two of the best changes to the item window were the "Variation of" and "Locking Mechanism" fields.
If you don't pay attention to what you're buying, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I can't help but think those of you poo-pooing this thread have probably all played the game long enough to either have been caught out by this yourselves or know someone who has, yeah it wouldn't catch me out unless I was being careless but that's not the point, I bet half the people online right now don't even know powerups exist & out of those that do there's probably good percentage who dont know whether stats quoted on a vendor are pre or post-powerup or how to check if theres a powerup at all.
Not everyone's an uber-gamer, if this thread was no use to you cos you knew it all already then fine, click the 'back' button & go read another one.
