Thread: when does dodge, melee def, and ranged def cap?

at what point will these cap and having more not do anything?

they all currently cap at 125

To be more precise, they all cap at 125 from any combination of mods gained in profession skill boxes or skill tapes. Other types of increases (food and squad leader bonuses for melee/ranged defense) will still go above the cap.

Not quite. The 125 cap includes both skill boxes and tapes. So if you have +120 melee defense from your profession template and +10 melee defense tapes, you are only "really" at +125 (although your character sheet will still say +120/+130). The second number (skill mods + SEAs) is what gets checked and capped.


Food can give another +25 to ranged or melee defense (not really a cap, just a limitation on how high the food can be experimented), and a Master Squad leader gives group members +30 ranged and melee defense, so in theory you could have 125 + 25 + 30 = 180 defense.

How About Accuracy? For Example Carbine....bh/carbine = 200 is it still 125?

ok how about doc? at master doc you get 105 wound treatment and u can get bio cloths with +25 which will bring it to 130 which is already over the limit. but everyone knows that u can buff higher with biv which gives another +25 bringing it to 155. also a med center will bring it up, im not exactly sure how much but im thinking another +20-25. then your wound treatment will be around 180

they ALL cap at 125...unless u cant read english..which i doubt..any skill in this game can go up to 125+...everything over that cap is a waste of skill points... being it for defenses, accuracy or doctor's healing

he's right... but you can only get +25 from tapes, and +25 from foods/etc. for a total of 175 possible cap

Accuracy is not capped.

No, only dodge, counterattack, block, melee defense, ranged defense have an "outside enforced" cap. Other skills may "cap" simply due to skill point availability, and +25 is a hard cap from SEAs, but that just occurs by the nature of a skill-based system.


If you've got a link to dev comments with a differing view, though, I'd love to see it.

foiled again!

lol i didn't know that tapes didn't add onto your skillset... i was under the impression that dodge/counterattack/meleedefense etc. skill tapes added on top of what you had up to 25 and superceded the cap

How about the stimulant thing fromt eh village reward which gives +10 to ranged def? Can that make it go over 125?

Yes, some kind of link to a definitive statement from the developers stating how their game works would remove a lot of guesswork and frustration from the playerbase. Ok, i've got some FS skill. Does it actually work? +3 to accuracy/box seems a little low.
