I have these two chat boxes that appear towards the upper right side of my screen every time I log in. I have to remove them every time. It's annoying. How can I remove them such that they never return on next log in?

I wonder how common this bug is, I get the same thing. I have1 tab for spatial and groupchat, 1 tab for combat, and 1 tab with IMs guildchat and chatchannels. I deleted the other default tabs to get them out of the way. They don't reappear whenever I log in, but as soon as I recieve an IM, or someone talks in guildchat, it shows up in the appropriate custom tab, but ALSO recreates a new tab dedicated to just that 1 chat type.

It's really annoying to delete the new tabs every game session, but the way the bug works, I have to. I decided to just leave it once, but after logging out and back in and getting more IMs/guildchat the game spawned more new tabs for each time I logged in. I tried ignoring it, until I ended up with my 3 customized tabs + 3 guildchat dedicated tabs (automatically spawned) + 3 IM dedicated tabs (auto spawned). I've tried deletingeverything and recreating my custom tabs, but each time I log back in the game insists on spawning new dedicated tabs for each type of chat I recieve.

i know of no way to fix this. the closest i ever came was backing up (moving) and deleting all of my client-side character info. i lost everything, including macros and ui arrangement, but also lost some defunct channel tabs. the good news is that i had the macros and my /note file backed up. you can do this to get rid of some tabs, but not all of them. it's an unfortunate and annoying feature of the chat system. :/

First of all, it's not a bug. ^-^

Indeed, it comes from the auto-join feature and in order to auto-join a channel, it has to be created. So that's why you also auto-create it if needed.

That being said, I've found 2 solutions to get rid of unwanted chat tabs (and auto-joined channels):

The first one consists in moving the concerned channel tab to another place onthe screen which will create another chat window. Then leave/destroy the channel (i.e. /chatroom leave [room_name] if you're not the creator, or /chatroom destroy [room_name] if you're the one who auto-created it). Then, /logout for a few minutes. When you get back you should see that empty chat window wearing no name floating on screen: close/delete it. This solution works often but at times the problem gets back. If it happens try this solution a few more times and it usually works after some tries.

The second solution is more radical but involves more work from your part. There, you are going to delete a file in the SWG directory.

Now the first thing to do is to back upthe whole profile folder found by default at C:\Program Files\StarWarsGalaxies\ in case you have to revert back to your old files.

Then, under C:\Program Files\StarWarsGalaxies\profiles\Account_Name\Galaxy_Name find your character's .uis file which takes care of your User Interface Settings (UIS). It is in fact a number identifying your character with the .uis entension. When found, delete it!

Anyway, when you will log back into the game, do a Full Scan form the Launchpad and your .uis file will be recreated with the default setttings. And because of that, you will never log back again to another chat via auto-join. The only drawback is that your toolbars and your chat windows will have reverted back to default. So if you don't mind replacing your combat moves, macros and equipment back into the toolbars and resetting your chat windows, then that's the way to go.

Note that if you make a mistake at anytime, you'll be able to replace the new .uis file by the old one or the whole profile folder if needed.

I have the same problem. Someonein the tech support forum suggested that the problem can be resolved by deleting the tabs by clicking on the 'X' rather than right clicking. I'm at work at the moment so I haven't had a chance to try this.
