Thread: Temporary Enemy Flags
Like many of my guild members I'm covert but I'm having a problem with TEF's. I know that attacking an imp base on a mission will get me a TEF but how can I find out if I have a flag, I don't see any indicators for it anywhere? Does healing an overt rebel get me a TEF like I've been told because the last time I went into a city where there was an imp raid I healed a covert reb to get a TEF so I could join in the fight but I couldn't attack, just like I was covert, then out of the blue my head was taken off by an imp ![]()
Could someone explain this to me clearly as I'm still relatively new to the game and this really confuses me, thx.
It's really just all kinds of messed up man... The way I understand it, in a nutshell...
If you do something, anything, vs. NPCs of the opposite faction, PCs of that same faction can attack you, you're a red dot. But YOU can't shoot them until they shoot you first.
If you heal or trade with someone of your same faction that is OVERT while you're not, You are now a red dot, but once again, you can not shoot first.
TEF's biggest issue is NO visible indicator that someone is overt, that your overt, etc. Until you're laying on your back wondering WTH?!
I have been playing since live started now and cannot, for the life of me,understand this TEF crap. I just know I get smoked once in a while then some punk, pimple faced, imp says "joo been owned!". I am like, wow, you're cool I had no idea I wasopen to PvP so your tactics are impecable.
Fix this so the average idiot (me) will at know that he/she is about eat the wrong end of a flame thrower.
My 2 cents
The whole TEF system is retarded. If you attack an NPC and receive a TEF, then any overt can attack you even though your not actually a "red dot" to them. Yet you cannot attack the overt until they attack you. Why not just make it everyone red dots when this happen so they are on an equal playing ground. Its not like I'm gunna walk into bestine, kill an npc, and sneak up on a pc and get any advantage. If we are both "red dots" then there should be no problems. If I'm missing something or some exploit please let me know.
Noss

I agree with a TEF being set for someone that heals an Overt from the opposing side - they are aiding and abetting the enemy. That being said, the TEF should allow that "medic" to attack me first as well as take a first shot from me - basically, the TEF should be a temporary Overt status.
This is the best way I have seen this idea posted in a long time, simple wording: "basically, the TEF should be a temporary Overt status"
