Dear SWG Gamers:

Recently I have been receiving a few more tells regarding PVP on the Naritus Server. I have to say I am the least of experts, but here is what I have gathered so far.Afterreading countless PVP reports and guides, I have come to the conclusion offew things a player must to do to excel in PVP and to optimize their current resources at hand. I posted this on the Naritus forums and I thought I post it here, I hope it helps. I will not be making any updates on this post, so if anyone wants to ake over or make the necessary corrections go right ahead. Thanks again.

  1. Template
  2. HAM Bar Migration
  3. Posture
  4. Items
  5. User Interface
  6. Comupter Hardware
  7. Internet Connection
  8. Offline Information
  9. Misc Rumors
  10. The bestcost effective way to PVP, without spending a forture in credits and time, I think.

1. Template:

This is probably the most important of them all. The ability to maximize you templatedepends on what you enjoy to play, the amount of credits you want to spend, and understanding skill mods. The best resource to play around with templates hands down is http://swgcb.yogn.net/also know as character builder, the best online tool there is. When also choosing your template you have to consider how to distribute your skill points. To be honest creditsare nota big issue, but if you want to be the best of your profession then credits and time will be a big issue. Here is an exampple,Rifleman will be very expensive, compared to going Carbineer, as Rifleman isa moredemanded template. You should also consider what you enjoy to, for example, I am a merchant so my template also include 0004 Merchant including Master Rifleman. The the final decision of your distributing your skill points relies on your understanding of how the skills work. The basic concept is:

I. The basic concept for combat skills is that they are capped at 125 except for speed and accuracy. To start off Defense Vs. what ever is capped at 125 points. That means you have 125 in Defense Vs Knockdown in skill points based on your template only, so additional points through attachments or clothing mods willnot matter.

II. The same will apply for Ranged Defense andMelee Defense.

III. The same will also apply for Block, Counter Attack, and Dodge, butthere is one last exception for Block, Counter Attack, and Dodge. As you know Dodge only exists in Fencer and in Pistoleer. To take an example, you have 125points of Dodge established through your template between Fencer and Pistoleer, butyour holding a Rifle in your hands because you are also a Master Rifleman, unfortunately Dodge will not take affect at all in combat while holding a Rifle, because it only applies to a weapon in your hand that relates to Fencer or Pistoleer.

IV. Accuracy, Accuracy While Moving or Standing has no cap. So additional points through attachments or clothing modswill improve your stats.

V. Speed has no cap either but technically a weapon cannot fire faster then one second per fire. Also known as Damage Per Second (DPS), butPistoleer can sufficiently cap at 100 Speed points, Rifleman can sufficiently cap at 97 Speed points, the rest I have no clue but you can find out on the forums or other sites, I recommend www.swghq.com the online tools section. By sufficient, I mean you can have a 4.0 Speed pistol at 100 Pistol speed points it will fire at one second per fire.

VI. Now you know that pretty much everything is capped at 125, but there are certain things that can boost capped combat skills pass 125 temporarily. Food & Drinks can temporarily boost it past 125. Squadleader bonus that effect the whole group can temporary pass 125 cap.

VII. Damage and Range Mitigation: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=29071&highlight=lets+talk+damage+mitigation#M29071.

VIII. Knowing your template specials make a big difference. Believe it or not, not all the specials for Master Pistoleer work and so I would recommend go to the main SWG forums and finding the profession you mastered, and investigate the main posts at top within your profession forum to see which specials work, and if you register for the forums you can always post your questions there. There is also an advance search button that is great too.3. Posture:

2. HAM Bar Migration:

I. You have to see an Image Designer and just put all your HAM points in to your mind bar first and the rest in to your second mind bars. This is because everyone is targeting Mind at the moment

3. Posture:

I. Standing or moving while using yourgun will give you the greatest melee defensebut lowering your aim compared two the other two postures.

II. Kneeling while using gun will lower your melee defense but increase your ranged defense and provide better aim.

III. Prone position while using your gun will lower your melee defenseeven further but increase your ranged defense even further and give you even greater aim of all three postures.

4. Items:

Once you got your template figured out be prepared to spend credits if you want to be the best PVPer. The obvious items will be Armor, Weapons, Attachments, Food, Drinks, Modded Clothing, Droids, Creatures, Jewelry, etc.

I. Armor & PSG: The most obvious item you will need is armor and/or PSG. The cap on armor is 90% but you can buy armor with high base and get a good slice to cap it at 90%. Stun Compositearmor is probably the most important for PVP. The high the better. Currently, on our server we have a bug were pretty much were you dont need to wear braces, biceps, or leggings for protection, the rest of the armor parts will protect you the same as if you were wearing all of it only for PVP, for PVE you have to wear everything. PSG are personal shield generators that are another layer of protection but they usually have about 3k in condition so they die quickly but are fairly cheap.

II. Weapons: when it comes down to it your looking for the highest damage weapon and Damage Over Time (DOT) weapons.

a. The reason why you want the highest max weapons is because you realize that you can already cap speedthrough attachments or the new force points, so max and min damage is the main concern. Range, HAM, Speed, Condition are also important but you can read about in the knowledge base or other sections in SWGforums.

b. DOT Weapons: are just a necessary in pvp, and the best part is they stack. I recommend just focusing on DOTmind weapons as the ability to heal mind is the hardest. You are looking for a good Fire or Poison or Disease mind damage DOT, with duration not a major priorty but something like 50 seconds at least, but with a potency rate of 50% or better usually. Fire is more important because most people have poison resistance attachments in outfits.

III. Attachments & Clothing: The uber PVPer outfit will consist of Composite armor at 90%,prenerfed Ubese armor shirt with no condition, prenerfed Ubese Bandolier with no condition, and Mabariarmor belt with no condition. All three items will have four sockets available, but th shirt and bandolier will take clothing attachments, while the belt will take armor attachmetns. Remember its either Mabari belt or PSG, Ubese shirt or modded clothing from a Tailor, and Bandolier or Modded Backpack. As for modded backpacks its either light weight backpack or spec ops modded backpack. For PSG's go for the Imperial PSGs only and for clothing, make sure to get the +4 to melee defense & Def vs Stun +18, or the +25 to Bleeding Resistance, or the +25 to Injury Treatment & Speed.

IV. Food & Drinks: My favorite Vercupi Brandy, but you will have to find yours, try to get something with 50 stomach filling or drink filling only that way you can use it twice back to back right away. Blue Milk is a great life saver also. As for spices you will want to stock up on Muon Gold or Nuetron Pixies. I have a crate of both at all times just in case.

V. Droids: You will get for spots in your data pad for droids. If you have medic, you will probably want one of those droids that can heal you in combat and have preloaded stimpacks by a doctor. In addition, you can get three more combat droids, make sure to max out on ham and have a stroage container in each of those three. Each storage container get 10 items, so with three droids you can have up to thirty more items to store on you, like a second set of armor for pvp, or your pve armor too.

VI. Creatures: you can get up to two level ten creatures, just make sure a M-CH trains it first before activiating it, assuming your not a Creature Handler.

V. Finally, jewelry, my favorite is still the Aukian Rings that add +5 to Ranged Defense, there is also the Imperial Medallion that adds +3 to Intimidation, Hero's Quest Ring that can you rez you oncea day at tops fifty time, Nyax Necklace that adds +5 to combat medic effectiveness, the new mind buff ring from the village quests, or other looted modded jewelry. How much you can wear depends on your racefrom my understanding. As ahuman I can wear two rings and a medallion.

5. User Interface:

I. Make sure to have your modifiers window open to see whatbuffs you have and time left through control o options.

II. Have a seperate window for combat damage to see how much damage you take, prevent, etc to study your items effectiveness.

III.Make sure to have yourF Keys set upwith two rows, sojust drag it down and the second row can be activated by shift + FKeys.

IV. When in a major PVP combat, and you want to reduce lag, consider reducing yourgraphics andterrain options to bare minimumthrough control+ o. When your done PVPing just put it back to normal or max.

V. Make sure to you Team Speak or Ventrilo. You will need a microphone, a excellent communication tool with your guild mates.

VI. I still have not had time to explore this but I am sure there are more ways to optimize this.

6. Computer Hardware:

I. The better equipment you have the better your computer will react to your commands. It just like in game better items better PVPer. The basics I would recommend at least, is the 3 GHz Processor, 1 Gig of Ram PC 2700,128 MB Video Card minimum from ATI or Nvidia for PCs, but 64 MB minimum fromATI or Nvidia for Laptops, and a 7200RPM 8 MB Cache Hard drive for PCs.

7.Internet Connection:

I. The better the connection, thebetter the communication with the server, the better game play to certain extent. Simpleas that.

8.Offline Information:

I. There is nothing the official SWG Forums and http://www.SWGHQ.com can not offer you about this game.

9.Misc Rumos:

I. Rumor has it that PSG will have to be unequiped and equiped everytime you take the shuttle or starport in order for them to work.

II. Second rumor has it depending on your profession, Block, Counter Attack, & Dodge are not capped at 125 and if you have more of one than the accuracy in skill pointsof your opponent, they will not be able to hit you, but this is just a rumor for now. Even though this is contradicting to the skill cap of 125 I mentioned above, I would suggest going with the the main information instead of th rumor for now.

III. Third rumor is that in PVP wearing Composite leggings matters and in PVE bracers do not matter.

10. The best cost effective way to PVP, without spending a fortune in credits or time, I think:

I. First off you will need some nice 40% Stun PVP armor for effective slices only, use the cheater set which consists of Helmet, Glove, Chest, and Foot armor. This will cost you around500k including the slices. You will also need a crate of PSG's that you can slice and store in yourdroid. That will cost you around 250k with slices.

II. Make sure to see and Image Designer to move your ham into thePrimary Mind Bar and the rest in to your Secondary Mind Bars. This will cost you around 25k.

III. Make sure to obtain DOT weapons focusing on mind, but I personally like to have one of every ham bar, there are nine total ham bars, but you want to have multiple of mind bar ones. These will be expensive.

IV. Make sure to purchase at least four droids with storage module on each one for storage. This will cost youaround 200k

V. Make sure to have three swoops on you at all times ortwo swoops and one speeder bike. This will bearound 100k for all three.

VI. If you do not have the Hero's Quest ring or the Mind Buff ring from the new Village Quests, then obtain two Aukian rings with +5 Ranged Defense. The Aukian rings go for about 500k each. Then if you are melee profession you will definately need the Imperial Medallion which has +3 to Intimidation and that costs around 100k.

VII. Then you haveClothing. You will probably want to use a modded backpack that will cost you 200k. Then you will probably want to use modded shirt and pants by a tailor that will cost you around 100k.

VIII. You will also need a Crate of Muon, Pixies, Vercupi, Brandy, and Blue Milk. Make sure to get the double shot version. This will cost youaround one million credits.

IX. The finalcost of expenditure will be attachments and weapons and that depends on you.

X. So your looking atspendingaround three million credits not including Attachments, DOT Weapons, and Regular Weapons, to be a gooda respectable PVPer.

Sincerely,

Thompson.
